It contains a dual core atom processor. It wont be slow at all, just not a quadcore. Dual core phones and tablets was the beginning of lagless android.

For a budget tablet just drop the rear camera and bump the ffc to 2mp and you have a winner. Then release a new Nexus 7 with 2gb ram, better resolution, and a microSD slot

Though I doubt it will happen, it would be awesome if they gave it a regular PC style BIOS so that you could easily install any x86 operating system. Granted drivers would be an issue but there would be tons of dev support for a device like this.

Honestly wouldn’t consider this an “ultra-budget” model… Unless the processor is absolutely horrible, this should perform comparably or better to some of today’s higher-end tablets.

They’re attempting to hit the $99 market with a decent tablet. It’s smart, parents would buy these in droves for kids when they don’t want them messing with their high-priced tablets. Not to mention, schools will purchase these in bulk to hand out to kids for classes. It’s smart actually.

Is this even a good idea? I mean don’t get me wrong cheaper is good, sometimes. I wouldn’t want to get a cheap tablet only to have it be a slowpoke and can’t be used for anything beyond web surfing. Just my 2 pesos…

So I’m curious why they’re even planning this. If they actually launch this, it will mostly only cannibalize their Nexus 7 market (I’d think), which doesn’t exactly help them much. I’d think a Nexus 7 refresh (2GB RAM + ??) might be a more profitable move.

the 1GB of ram has me hoping they atleast double that… But otherwise, awesome.
