Last time I hit mount system it bricked my phone. So can someone explain how to do this properly so it doenst happen again.

I am running a Samsung Captivate/ Galaxy S rooted and I am running Froyo.

When I use ROM Manager or try to install this manually it is telling me:

--Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed

-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Installation aborted.

What's going on here?

Beware this soft bricked my mt4g. Followed the instructions to the letter and after doing so it did not install so tried again and it soft bricked the device. I am rooted and s=off no custom roms etc. Any ideas why this happened?

I got an error when I attempted to install the .zip via recovery on my rooted HTC Hero CDMA it said...
"Verifying update package...
E: Missing file:
system/tts/lang_pico/es-ES_ta.bin
E: Verification failed

Installation aborted"

P.S. running Cyanogenmod 6.1 Stable Heroc
