Yeah, I agree. The HP TouchPad and my Nexus 7 keep the 10 inch and 7 inch categories covered for me. That’s why I didn’t want a Nexus 10. The HP TouchPad with CM10 fits the bill well.

I’ll be happy when Google issues an update to 4.2 for the N7. So far, it’s been one of the buggier releases. I went back to 4.1 because of that. Works a lot better for my N7.

I got CM10 on it, preview 5… i think. The post I followed was terribly vague. But it runs well. Makes it feel much better. Still going with the Nexus 7, but I’ll keep it around, perhaps let my folks play around with it. Now if it gets 4.2 it’d be great since it’d be a shared tablet…

Yeah, that version is basically 99% complete. JCSullins came back from a long absence and dropped a big update that works great. Even the camera works now. Something that hadn’t worked for the longest time in CM9, which WAS officially a CyanogenMod supported ROM.

It’s not official CM10, but it works well. Hopefully, someday, we’ll see it go into the official CyanogenMod website. It’s a worthy ROM to give a try. It’s my daily driver.

Also, what I was going to ask before, was if microSD cards are usually cheaper per GB than flash drives. (especially so at higher storage capacity.)

No. $150 is too much for this in a crowded tablet market. $99 should be the price, especially when this looks 99.9% like the Google Nexus 7

Google sells the Nexus 7 at a minor loss. They make up for the loss on the hardware by betting that you’ll make at least a couple Play Store purchases, and you’ll inevitably be exposed to more Google Ads. Asus can’t recuperate costs in the same way.

I always thought Asus would eventually come out with their own 7″ tablet variation. I’m glad I went ahead and got the Nexus7. With 32gb [and OTG], external card storage isn’t necessairy for me.

The only reason to by this product is if you must have an SD slot…the Nexus 7 is superior in every way. Vastly so. Just spend the $50.

I did notice the slow charging, thought it was just something wrong with the wire. Was a bit disappointing when my N7 died while I was watching Netflix because the charge speed used to compensate for the drain and then some.

Android 4.2.1 is fairly buggy on the N7. The N7 was AWESOME on Android 4.1.2. Super smooth and never a hiccup for me. But the update reduced the smoothness some and it’s gotta be bugs because it’s not like the hardware can’t handle it.

Another problem is slow charging and Bluetooth connectivity. My Bluetooth headphones get disconnected often on Android 4.2. I flashed back to Android 4.1 and couldn’t be happier. I’m hoping Android 4.2.2 fixes the issues.

Haha, yeah. As I said above, even the ORIGINAL Nook Color with CM10 is super smooth and fast.

My wife is using my old B&N Nook Color with CM10 and she couldn’t be happier with its performance. I think you can find used Nook Color’s on eBay for well under $100 now. That + Jelly Bean = Win. Love Android 4.1+.

The latest iterations of CM10 run really fluidly on the TouchPad. You should give them a try.

I’ve had no force closes at all. Heck, most apps run perfectly even on my wife’s 2010 B&N Nook Color with CM10. Jelly Bean truly transforms even older hardware. Project Butter is the real deal.

How did you manage to get the 32GB version for $99? The 16GB version was the one that sold for that price during the fire sale. How do I know? I have a 16GB HP TouchPad that I got for $95.

I agree with you too. My HP TouchPad has served me well. I own a 32GB Nexus 7 now, but I still use my TouchPad. It’s running CM10, and it’s great.
