Damn, Verizon’s LTE network in Minneapolis is turrrible compared to the speeds you guys are pulling. Just got 2.5 down, 1.8 up with a 472ms ping… Hoo-freaking-ray..

Can’t wait to switch to snag a Nexus 4, get a prepaid plan and kiss VZW goodbye.

Alright, let’s set this straight.

T-Mobile isn’t terrible. HSPA+ speeds (barring the ping speed, which is horrendous) are (usually) good. Other than the 1Mbps down I pulled in Myrtle Beach (with 42Mbit theoretical speeds, I might add!), they’re something like 10-12 down and 2-4 up.
Coverage on T-Mobile isn’t great. HSPA+ markets are few and far between, and coverage in those markets is a bit sketchy. Best of all, it falls back to EDGE*, which is pretty much the best 1999 has to offer in cellular data. That falls back to AT&T’s emergency call network.

Verizon’s LTE down speeds are marginally better. Up and ping speeds crush T-Mobile, and coverage is absolutely outstanding. LTE in nearly 500 markets, it’s practically everywhere. When LTE is not available, EVDO is better than EDGE.

I switched to T-Mobile from Verizon (3G, but the rest of my family is on LTE) a month ago. They’re good where I live, but I wouldn’t have switched if Verizon were GSM. Being able to use the Nexus 4 is T-Mobile’s biggest strength for me.

* = I haven’t been everywhere, but I have never seen UMTS 3G on T-Mobile. Only HSPA, EDGE, no signal, or (for only a split second) GPRS.

No offense but that’s awful speed. VZW ping and AT&t ping never go above 100ms. Not to mention on VZW, the slowest speed I got in NYC was 28mbps down and 14 up. On At&T the slowest I ever got was 42mbps, though the upload was awful at 7mbps.

T-Mobile sucks its not real 4g 90% of people will agree that Verizon is better 100 times better faster everything more popular and I have unlimited look it up seriously look it up lol u make me laugh

I live in Vegas and just switched from verizon to at&t….i dont really see a difference in coverage but what i do know is that verizon is a rip off and the fact that they took away thier unlimited data is crap….i went from a TB to a Note2 and they said bye to my unlimited so i said bye to them……#winning!

It’s true that 1 Gbps is the utmost max speed when immobile, but considering the max speed when moving is set at 100 Mbps, and we don’t even get 1/3 of that under optimum conditions while *stationary*, they’re definitely fudging the truth. It was only after the carriers started throwing around the “4G” moniker that the ITU were basically forced to lower the standard just enough for it to be technically correct. At best, the wireless tech we have right now is considered 3.9G. Well hell, all the carriers are lying since 4G is *supposed* to be 1 Gbps and we’re not even at a quarter of that under optimum conditions. Just another marketing word to throw around and make everyone “ooh and ahh” about.

In the 4G arena according to Consumer Reports, it’s Verizon 1st and foremost, Sprint 2nd (I have no idea how), T-Mobile 3rd, and AT&T a very distant 4th.

But doesn’t AT&T say they have the nation’s largest 4G network in their (LYING) ads? LOL!!!
