Same here. I discarded Plume when I first tried it about a year ago as it was horribly unstable, glitchy and lacked the features I needed. Gave it a shot again recently b/c Tweetcaster development has dwindled and they refused to address a few glaring bugs. Plume beat all the other apps when I gave it a try this time around!

Cool, I used Plume once upon a time, and stopped using it for a reason that I don’t even remember. I’ll give it another shot.

I recommend giving Plume beta a shot. It’s free since you’re helping them “test” it (despite there being no bugs that I’ve seen) and it has all the premium features. I made a more lengthy comment about it here:

I *strongly* recommend registering for the free Plume beta. IIRC all it takes is registering on their forum where they post the releases (http://levelupstudio.com/betatest/index.php)

They give you all the paid features for free since you’re helping test it. I’ve been on it for about 3 months now and it’s extremely stable (I haven’t had a crash or bug yet). Any updates are downloaded through the app itself. It will basically show you an in-app popup with change log and allow you to download and install it right then and there if you so desire.

I have personally tried Ubersocial (and Twidroyd Premium before that), Seesmic, Tweetcaster Premium, Hootsuite, Tweakdeck, Twitter, and Twicca. I’ve landed on Plume Beta.

For those who aren’t aware, they recently added Facebook integration.

Agreed. I’ve begged the Tweetbot developer to create a clone of his iOS app for Android. He’d make a killing even if he sold it for $1.

Android is missing 1 perfect (or near) Twitter app. We have a handful of mediocre options …none of which are quite good enough. I’m thinking about using the official Twitter app for my day to day stuff, and then keep TweakDeck around for following the 2-3 lists that I need to keep an eye on as well …but avoid using TweakDeck for replying as much as possible.
Definitely not an ideal solution.

Tweakdeck is my daily driver, but it has its downsides too.

It’s inconsistent about what image previews it will show, it doesn’t show image previews inline like Tweetcaster does, it doesn’t support the twitter.com link intent, you can’t see how many times a tweet was retweeted/favorited, the favorite button doesn’t work properly, it weirdly puts http:// in front of every link (a guy tweeted “I got hired at CBS Sports.com” and Tweakdeck displayed “I got hired at CBS http://Sports.com” which was confusing), etc.

I just feel like Tweakdeck is the best we have (at least on Gingerbread), but iPhone has about 15 twitter apps that are better.

I’ve been spoiled by TweakDeck (Tweak not Tweet …the blue icon one). It’s fast and it also handles Facebook which is nice. Also like being able to handle multiple columns for the variable things I need to check on.

That all being said, the official Twitter app just looks so much nicer — it just lackers features.

Yet they still couldn’t have updated it so that it follows the ICS guidelines and doesn’t use a menu button on the devices like the Galaxy Nexus.
