I just got off the phone with an Amazon Wireless Customer Service Rep. They said it’s only available if you purchased your phone after it left beta.

Phone subsidies hide the real price of phones. Not only does that confuse customers into the value of their phones, but it prevents a lot of competition to lower the real price of phones.

So long as you can buy a $99 Nexus as a new customer, don’t expect the price for existing customers to drop at all.

Why would you assume the $25 would be to buy games? That’s stereotyping and plays into the Blackberry “tools, not toys” premise. Don’t degrade yourself that way.

I needed 2 things to get the new customer pricing, google voice and a wife. Since I use GV, I didn’t care about keeping my old number. I originally tried to sign up under my name/ssn as a “new customer”, but they caught that pretty quickly. What I then realized is that, while I was a current customer, my wife was not. Her name/ssn and $99 later, new GNex in hand and loving it.
