I OWN A HTC EVO 3D AN ACTUALLY PAID FOR MONEY ON A WEB SITE TO UNLOCK IT WHICH THEY RESPONDED BACK IN AN EMAIL THAT THEY COULDNT AN TRIED TO TELL ME TO PURCHASE AGAIN AT A DIFFERENT FEE FOR A ANOTHER SEARCH NO WAY I WHOLE THING IS HOW WOULD UNLOCK THIS PHONE IF IT DOES NOT CARRY A SIM CARD?

Custom roms aren’t the only way to go when you root. I use stock 2.3.5 on my slightly o’clocked OG droid and it hardly ever has an issue and is actually quite snappy.

I think the point is he would have the option to choose what bugs he can cope with rather than being locked into one software set. The plain fact is that we own our phones, whether it’s subsidized or not…Verizon doesn’t take your phone away if you cancel your contract, they simply slam you with a fee…so the user is the owner. I, for one, believe in a user’s right to choose what he wants to do with his phone (within the law) and locked/encrypted bootloaders run opposite of that belief.

I have a EVO 3D. I left verizon for sprint when this phone came out (I had an OG Droid). Let me tell you something I love this phone and now even more with an unlocked bootloader. I won’t lie I miss my Droid but sprint is been nice to me. They give me $125 port in credit, the sprint employee hook me up with his employee discount(-25% on the calling plan). The costumer support are always nice and helpful. On the other hand I don’t miss verizon. When I call them to ask how much my ETF was they ask me if why do I want to terminate my plan? I explained all the perks sprint was offering to me and they remaind me that they had the best coverage (true) and the best phone line up(yeah right) and that’s it they didn’t even try to retain me after been a costumer for 11 years. Sorry for the wall of text.

True, he would only have to deal with the bugs from the custom ROMs that he loads which only get 1/100th of the attention that bugs from manufacturers get because everyone hates the manufacturers but loves the devs and act like they are gods.
