All you need is 1ghz with a dual core chip. Especially when both cores are running at 1ghz. Push the chip to far and you lose efficiency and use more power then needed.

Seriously give it up with the WiFi only version – it'd be hugely expensive. Then you'll all whine how it's triple the price of the contracted version. Part of the point of the contract is you pay off the hardware with each monthly payment, that's also why carriers have ETFs. If you get a $500 phone and pay $100 for it, then cancel service after a month, they're making a $350 loss.

Or you can exceed limitations in a way that forces VZW to terminate your contract. I think the point of his comment was more to tell people the contract-less version is exactly how much a WiFi-only version would be… i.e. WAY too much (900+ dollars, at the very very least).

I wouldn’t say the X is crappy. I’m really happy with mine, especially running Apex. Sure it’s only Gingerbread flavored Froyo, but it’s still pretty awesome.

I agree though on not buying future encrypted devices.
