I was told by a Sprint Engineer that they were converting old Nextel towers to the LTE first due to some issues with signal and compatability. The order was determined by who had more Nextel towers/subscribers per capita.

Verizon was the same way when they start putting up LTE. I had all kinds of LTE coverage issues when they first start going live then I did this summer before I left Big Red.

Unfortunately you are probably right. I didn’t think about it like that but that makes a lot of sense. Until the Softbank deal goes thru and with all the money they are spending on Clearwire it makes sense that they wouldn’t have much cash for expanding large city coverage. It looks more impressive to have 100 markets live then it does to have 10-20 major cities live.

A) The PR teams likely have nothing to do with LTE roll out plans.
B) Population does not equate to priority in LTE roll out! Never has.

Sprint is simply NOT ready for prime time. It seems that plenty of people still can’t get reliable and consistent LTE coverage even in areas that are announced.
