    • Chris Hollenbeck

The Thunderbolt is the exact opposite of “go” ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Mchl496

        Why mention the thunderbolt?

        • DigitalDK

          Why mention, mentioning the thunderbolt?

          • Mchl496

Let me just cut you off there and get to the final level where this was headed… U mad bro?

At 400MB and you are not on WiFi will mean some people will hit their data limits. This update is a fatty.

    • LionStone

Yep, a far cry from that 60 MB file people were thinking was the JB update! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Josh Butora

My update just started coming though on its own via wifi just now. I was so excited that I ran over here to let you guys know, since this site had the best status updates on when we might be receiving jellybean. Only, I got here and discover that you guys are once again way ahead of the rest and already know about the update. You guys ROCK, im excited to check jellybean out. Thanks for the awesome updates : )

I thought Christmas was coming not Easter…..JELLY BEAN!!!! I would thank Verizon but this appears to be one of those Christmas miracles I tell my kids about. Thank you Santa…I now believe again!!!!

  • rdesigns

My Verizon S3 is being updated as we speak!!! So excited. Jelly bean!! 9:41am Hollywood CA. 400MB. Yeah buddy!!!

  • Sam’s Son

    It’s downloading right now.

  • JazzoRenee

Oh this new notification outfitting is the best.

  • Downloading here in Memphis over 4G!

    • usmitcboy

M-town!!! I’m getting it in Southaven

  • Is this any different than the last leaked version.

    • hkklife

By “last” leaked version, if you mean the K3 leak from last week, then no, they are unfortunately exacly the same. K3 is decent but it still has a handful of bugs along with considerably worse battery life.

      • Thanks for the info so I don’t waste my time getting this update.

  • JazzoRenee

Switch to global mode….hahah the app folders look kind of cool.

  • JazzoRenee

    • LionStone

Dang, what a nice pop! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Yep… It’s up and running for users to download… Nice one… Guess our leaks for today held true after all…

  • JazzoRenee

    Phone is restarting

  • EvanTheGamer

  • Installing – Philadelphia, PA

  • MistaC87

    Happy happy happy…joy joy joy!

Not too thrilled about the file size though. Updates from Verizon take forever no matter what internet connection I’m on. But I don’t give a damn as long as I get jelly bean…

    • I wondered about that too, but DL was about 2 minutes max over wifi and actual system update is running roughly 10 minutes. Not too terribly bad.

      • MistaC87

The updating process over wifi is so terribly slow. I switched to 4g to get it, and in under a minute I am already at 40 percent.

    • JazzoRenee

Shorter than iOS my Ipod took over 2 hours.

  • Soofdawg

Thanks for the framework trick. Downloading now…over 4G. I still refuse to use wifi. Take that Verizon! ๐Ÿ˜›

    (Baltimore market btw)

    • nightscout13

So when you cleared the data from framework, then what, did you do a restart? manually check for update? or does it automatically show up

      • Soofdawg

I’m not sure if doing the framework step might be necessary for all, but I did it regardless. After the framework step, I manually checked for an update (settings>about phone>software update>check now) and confirmed download. Phone restarted on its own.

        • PuzzleShot

The framework step gives your device a new id for the Google services, which gets thrown into a random update pool, so do it often enough and your device ends up in a pool that is receiving the update. Be careful as your phone will register for each service with that new id taking up slots in products like Google Play Music.

          • Soofdawg

I use most of the services already…especially Google Music. Will the new id taking slots impact negatively?

          • PuzzleShot

Well you can only have 10 slots, and you can only remove 4 per year (although I don’t think they’re enforcing that right now). If you do it enough you’ll have to go on the website on desktop and remove some devices before you’ll be able to listen on your phone again.

          • DigitalDK

Not enforced currently, I’ve cleared like a 100 in the past two months lol.

          • Soofdawg

Thanks for the heads up…I get what you’re saying now.

      • BulletTooth_Tony

No need to restart… Just go back at it. One note… If you use GTalk it logs you out and resets your notification settings for it as well…

    • Anyone get the option to “quick reply” or “call” when you get a text message? :/ I miss it. CM 10 included it

  • Mike Pitman

its installing now in TX market. Yippy.

  • iamevie

Awesome! The update is happening now as I type. So excited!

  • TD

Any chance this breaks unlock on a non rooted locked bootloader phone?

    • So based on my knowledge… if you unlocked and rooted then if you install this update your bootloader will be locked again. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709. However I remember hearing somewhere that you could also brick the device if you take an OTA? Anyone remember this?

    • Yoderz

How could it break root or unlock if it’s not rooted or unlocked? Am I reading that right?

      • FortitudineVincimus

updates closing root or bootloader loopholes is common

        • richardsonadm

Exactly, if you’re worried about it, then just hang tight until the devs get it worked out. There was leak on this already if you wanted it rooted.

          • FortitudineVincimus

I’m not at all – TD is

      • TD

I mean the ability to unlock the bootloader after this stock OTA update. Lets say I haven’t rooted yet or unlocked my bootloader and take this update. Can I still do those things? Has Verizon snuck in a bootloader patch?

        • Yoderz

Gotcha. To answer your question, yes you can still get root and unlock your device. I did it last night, but there was an extra step I had to do. Apparently the Jelly Bean update blocked the previous root tool that we could use on ICS.

Open1your1eyes0 updated his post on what you need to do in order to get root and unlock over at xda. Here’s the link:

          • btod

            thank you so much

    • TD

Too late, I was force upgraded by the borg, didn’t even have a defer button : P

  • Downloading here in Atlanta, GA!

  • Lenny

So I rooted a while back but never put a custom ROM on. Anyone know if there’s anyway I can unroot without wiping the phone? Thanks!

    • Lenny

To clarify, I’m just hoping to get this update without losing all my data

      • FortitudineVincimus

why unroot? just get OTA Voodoo Root Keeper app and backup your root and then do the OTA update and presto.. no data loss, no root loss

        • Lenny

Thanks for the tip, I’m going to give this a shot!

        • OnlyNexus

Have a backup plan to Rootkeeper as well. I had RootKeeper and I lost root after the 4.1 update as expected but couldn’t restore. Rootkeeper failed.

          • FortitudineVincimus

I have already read over at XDA that RK works on this and keeps root. I have never not had RK work on an OA update… OTA mind you. That is the key, it must come OTA.

  • Just checked for new update and it was there downloading it now. Central TX.

  • Wayne W

    Just updated! Yeaaaah!

  • JazzoRenee

    Installing yeah yeah

  • npompei

The temp here says 49, but it sure looks like hell has frozen over?!

Been running this for a few weeks now on Clean Rom 5.0 – its great

    • Sam’s Son

I keep hearing good things about Clean Rom. Have you had any issues with it yet? I feel like every time I root and throw on a rom I have tiny issues and my phone doesn’t feel as fluid.

      • npompei

Absolutely 100% flawless. Seriously. It was the first rom I put on a phone (only did once on my TF101) and it has been awesome. Added some great themes, made my GPS lock in 2 seconds with a patch, etc. Its great. Do it and never look back

        • Sam’s Son

          Good to know. Will do.

  • shawn

    Finally!!!! downloading for that goodness

  • It’s downloading it now here in Baltimore, MD. I am glad they finally sent it out. Assholes.

Service Unavailable on my GF’s S3 is this a phone error? It’s been doing that since Semptember 27th and I’ve seen tons of people complaining about it?

    • JazzoRenee

      • DigitalDK

GIRL FRIEND never had one before? ๐Ÿ˜›

        • JazzoRenee

      • e3pin0

        same here

        • jboogie1289

Have you guys tried the Services Framework trick?

          • DigitalDK

Yep, no luck at all. Just keeps saying the same thing over and over.

    • SR

Mine did the same thing but I found thread on VZs forums of all places suggesting to do a factory reset. That did the trick for me and the update is downloading now.

    • SR

And I’m now on JB. Seriously I had that error when I first tried, did a factory reset, logged in and the update popped up automatically.

      • DigitalDK

I tried a factory reset as well, no luck.

  • JazzoRenee

    Oh yeah!!!!

  • yeah boy!
