Version 3.9.16 of Google Play Allows for Removal of Apps From “All Apps” List

Today, there is a new version of the Google Play APK out for Android users. Version 3.9.16 brings the ability to remove a single or a list of applications from the “All Apps” list inside the application. Doing so will help you clean up the space and has been a highly requested feature from users.

We have a download available below and you simply install it over the existing version of Google Play. Here’s hoping the next version will include a “Purchased” apps list.

YES! I’ve been waiting for this sing I first started using my android phone.

  • carluverdrm2004

I know that I downloaded a ton of crappy apps when i first got started with my OG Droid, this is much appreciated!

  • Finire

Once removed… does it remove from all of your device lists? I’d hate to have to do this on every device…. and I’d like my new ones to not show all of the junk.

  • http://geniousatplay.blogspot.com/ Bikram Agarwal

Finally. One problem though – delete an app from “all apps” list and the scrollbar snaps back to the top. :(

  • TheUI

This is a much appreciated feature. Also, it would be great if when scrolling down through a list of all of your apps and then selecting one; if when you return to the list, your place would be saved.

  • http://profiles.google.com/lolshooter michael steinmetz

Also doesn’t start you back at the beginning of the list when you go into an app listo

  • oaxican509

LMAO! i was removing them one by one! and didn’t realize you can multi select until i revisited DL and saw the screen shots…….

  • smckee

Great feature but it needs Multi-Select in a bad way. This will take a long time to clean up all my uninstalled apps.

    • gpzbc

      It has multi-select

  • Lesser Version

PA Dark with Inverted Apps. Download comes down but won’t install due to an apk with same signature error. I have seen this before, but can’t remember how I fixed it before to install the new version. A little help please

  • Mark Eisenberg

Will this work on phones running gingerbread too?

    • http://twitter.com/CoolEpoet Ernie

in case you didn’t figure it out by now, yes.

  • SAMBO

Did they put it in alphabetical order? That pisses me off to no end.

  • moelsen8

I’m wondering what happens when you, say, do a factory reset after trimming your list down? Or multiple devices.. does it affect the other ones ‘ play store?

  • moelsen8

Well its about time. What a completely useless section that’s been. Now its slightly less useless. If I wanted to go through and delete hundreds of crap apps, it’d almost be a “purchases” section.

  • trixnkix637

    THANK YOU BABY JESUS!

  • Chris Hollenbeck

Man do I have a lot to delete….I was on an app bender in the past…

  • http://www.facebook.com/arparaspolo Anthony Paraspolo

For the passed two hours I have been, one by one, deleting the apps I don’t want on the list. I only just realized that you can select as many as you want and hit the little “no” symbol(circle with a slash through it) and delete them all at once arg!

    • http://profiles.google.com/lolshooter michael steinmetz

ahhhh spent 2.5 hours one by one only to find out this was possible… almost wish i hadnt known

      • http://www.facebook.com/arparaspolo Anthony Paraspolo

When selecting multiple apps to delete that circle didn’t highlight or anything. Kind of stayed grayed out as if you couldn’t hit it. Well after the few hours doing it manually I was like why the heck didn’t I try to hit it anyway and hit it. :/ Damn. I could’ve saved 2 hours of my life haha.

  • Daniel Maginnis

Awesome! I’ve had Android since 2.1. Too many apps in that list

  • http://twitter.com/tgwaste tgwaste

Does it remember what you removed? If I go to another device or reinstall my device and view the list again, are all the apps i removed back again? If so then = useless.

    • snowblind64

Removed a bunch of apps on my Nexus 7. Sure enough they also disappeared from my Galaxy Nexus. Bye bye app killer from 2009!

  • http://BGR.COM/ riggs

Is their a multi select option?

    • FknTwizted

yes, just long press and click on the ones you dont want… make sure they have the circle with the slash through it… just did all of them and man did it take a while!

Here’s a mirror in case/when the Dropbox link generates too much traffic and possibly gets disabled

      Thanks!

  • haproot

    +1 for purchased app list!

  • AranelAlasse

is the .apk above the only way to get this? or is it in the google play store? does the .apk work on ICS?

    • William_Morris

Able to use it on my stock S3 which runs ICS

  • Chris Malkiewicz

40 min later and the end is no where in sight… Multi select?? lol

    • http://twitter.com/REN3GADE0715 Shawn B

Yes.. you can multi-select. Press and hold the app. As long as you dont select an installed app you can remove multiple apps from your all list.

      • Chris Malkiewicz

HOLY Crap!!! I could kiss you….

  • William_Morris

I have been waiting for this for a LONG time. Some apps I just regret downloading and now having the ability to remove them means I don’t have to be reminded about my mistake.

    • FknTwizted

i found it like walking down memory lane…. lol i have had a android device since the OG.

  • Ibrick

    Thank you Baby Jesus!

  • Michael_NM

Bye bye sexy Asian apps of yore….

    • http://twitter.com/jamdev12 jamdev12

    • FortitudineVincimus

agreed.. this is what I want more than anything. a way to store apps I am considering.

  • Ryan

    About damn time.

  • Murphy

This is going to take a while….

  • Southrncomfortjm

    Finally! Thank you Google!

  • Tania N

Thank the Google Heavens for this!! I absolutely hateddd not being able to delete those apps that I tried out and deleted or the ones I had to get to move on to the next level in a game! Phew!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=75200646 Stephen Cox

We can do this, but we still aren’t allowed to delete old devices? WTF…

    • Tim242

You can do that from the website.

      • DroidJ

I can see how to hide devices, but not delete. Is there now a delete feature on the website?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=75200646 Stephen Cox

You can hide, but not delete.

I’d be okay with hiding the devices, but every time I add a new one (or load a new ROM), everything that was hidden is all of a sudden showing again and its a pain in the ass.

  • PhillipCun

    They listened? OMG!

    • http://twitter.com/jamdev12 jamdev12

Your vote only counted for 1/2. They still need to let you get rid of devices.

  • cobjones

can you do this on the web version yet?

  • http://www.unexpectedparameters.com Aaron Hurt

    About time!

  • Xlinn

    Great!!

  • Big_EZ

Sveet. Now just add the “purchased apps” tab and I’ll be happy.

    • Chris Pinola

in the old days it used to be SO easy to find them -_-

      • will bartlett

they used to be right there. now they arent :(

      • Big_EZ

That’s whats odd. They normally add features but this is one they took away.

  • http://twitter.com/sqlrob Rob

Does this remove it from one device or all?

    • FknTwizted

All.. i did this on my Gnex and they aren’t showing up on my S3.

  • http://twitter.com/droidxethan Ethan farmer

    FINALLY!!!

  • Butters619

    Oh thank you baby Jesus.

  • http://www.facebook.com/arparaspolo Anthony Paraspolo

    ABOUT TIME!!!

  • root4life

    • jeesung

the App icons haven’t shown in the notifications. still generic grey one.

all 3 devices i installed this version on.

      • root4life

Works for me on my galaxy nexus

        • jeesung

Nexus 7, Xoom, Razr Maxx. nothing :(

oh well, deleting apps makes it worth it anyway.

  • http://twitter.com/jamdev12 jamdev12

YES!!! FINALLY!!! I’ve been waiting for this for so long. Now if only I could also remove old devices, I no longer have… Google???!!!

    • Allen Byrd

      • http://twitter.com/jamdev12 jamdev12

        true dat, true dat

      • http://twitter.com/AndroSync AndroSync

Go to your Google Wallet account and just remove it from there.

        • Allen Byrd

holy crap thank you so much lol

    • brkshr

I feel the same! FYI – You can remove old devices on the web. I think under your account settings in the Play Store.

      • moelsen8

Doesn’t it really just “hide” them though?

        • brkshr

Not sure. They haven’t shown their faces since, so it works for me.

  • JoshHenry

    Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

  • tanknspank

Also remembers your position throughout the whole app now! Been waiting for this since Google ruined it so long ago.

    • Prime7

This is the thing I’ve been waiting for. I hate having to scroll through the list over and over.

    • http://twitter.com/jamdev12 jamdev12
