Manufacturers did basically create one (a phone w/ a dock), and no one bought it. The last droid motorola line (droid, razrs, photons, etc) did have this feature and no one bought the optional dock. The lapdock that motorola came out with was FREAKING AMAZING. AND EVEN MORE SO WITH THE ADVENT OF THE ICE CREAM SANDWICH UPDATE.

Now when Google took over Motorola, they made a few decisions. After Google noticing that lapdocks were being SEVERELY discounted in order to be sold, Google noticed that currently, its not WORTH IT for the united states market to offer a phone that has screen docking capabilities.

Google came to the conclusion that the CURRENT razr line will no longer come with lapdocking capabilities (which as a lapdock user, REALLY disappointed me).

So we had our chance…

I’d say the reason the US carriers have shunned it so far is because the Padfone 1 only works on 2G networks here. I bet the carriers will pick this 4G LTE one up!
