i have a kf and it fell, broken screen. i have a warrenty with it. My q is do you think they would swap it out with the HD and let me pay the difference?

I love the nexus 7 and all of its features..but eventually it comes down to build quality which the nexus 7 is fails at. Knowing that the screen breaks easily when you drop it or even the screen itself separating even if you don’t drop it is a deal breaker for me. I don’t want to be frustrated with Goggle/Asus’s customer service like so many others had to go through. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Goggle started to receive complaints about the build quality of their product in the coming months. It seems like these problems begin to occur after you use the nexus for long periods of time

I’ve got a N7. I was giving my opinion. Not whining. I also don’t get butt hurt if someone doesn’t like my chosen device and go an a rant about it.
Also the interface is laggy compared to the N7, and I doubt there is that much of a difference in the screen’s visual quality. specs != real life experience.

have you seen the ads? no, i didnt think so. so i’ll enlighten you. they are full page high def ads. at first I was like you thinking I wouldnt want them, but so far i’ve seen ads for movies and some product ads and with a swipe they are gone. I dont find them bothersome. what i find bothersome is whiney people like you who dislike something before they have even seen it. if you dont want ads, dont buy a kindle. who cares. amazon will sell millions without you. tell me, whats so important about the lock screen? how much time do you spend there? most lock screens time out in a few seconds, so how much time do you have to admire your amazing lock screen? geez, get a nexus 7 if this is so bothersome and enjoy that washed out screen and lower quality speakers, both of which make the fire HD a better option.

there are reasons not to buy the kindle fire, but “buttery smooth” on the nexus 7 isnt one of them. that has been one of the most overhyped and under delivered feature to date. my galaxy note 10.1 running ics is far smoother than the nexus 7 which i sold. Just like the apple fanboys, people here believe the marketing hype. the freakin nexus 7 even stutters on the pulse newsreader. don’t believe it? download it and see just how “buttery smooth” scrolling is

I received my kindle fire hd this morning. The ads are full screen hd ads that actually look great. some are movie ads, some are product ads. once you swipe, they are gone. I was intending to pay the 15.00 to have them removed, but I kinda like them. By the way, the screen and speakers are great. much better than the nexus 7 which i sold. build quality is super and did i say the screen was great? much better color than the nexus 7. anyhow, i certainly miss google play, but like most people I only use a limited amount of apps on a regular basis and all of these are in the amazon market.

But the stock JB will likely have random bugs and non-functional hardware (currently the microphone doesn’t work and the touchscreen is buggy in JB on the OG Fire). It’s not quite the same as having a nexus device.

It is worth noting that there are some advantages to the Kindle Fire HD if you have an Amazon Prime account. Access to the free lending library and instant prime videos are not avalible using the kindle app on a different android device.

not to mention there is an app that unlocks the usb port on the N7 for further storage needs.
