That is one thing that would get us to buy a tablet. Right now with a Nexus I see no reason for *us* to buy a tablet, but one that could dual boot when needed to do productivity stuff on the go would be nice.

Ah, good point. That slipped my mind. I remember hearing that they are even baking it into Office and XBOX. It would make since to bake it right into windows or at least make sure the app works on all versions. Thanks.

You definitely won’t be able to change the boot loader
(and probably recovery) and replacing the kernel might also be out of question. It greatly depends on whether ASUS decides to go full secure boot or not.

Naturally, the only part of the OS that actually must be secure and encrypted is the boot loader; the main idea behind UEFI secure boot was to get rid of bootloader hijacking where malware was loaded before the OS’s boot loader, and thus could perfectly hide itself. With boot loader being secure from that threat, everything past its startup is already under full control of the developers of the OS in question.

Theoretically both. MS bought skype after all, they’d want it to be in all their OS’s. Even Windows Phone eventually.

Not true. Both Arm and x86 will run both metro and desktop. I’m running Windows 8 CP on my desktop. I see both desktop and metro sides of things. They’ve confirmed the same will be available for arm tablets. The caveat being, on ARM, you have the desktop interface, but no third party desktop apps.

Interesting. I hope Asus does this right. Win RT + ICS/JellyBean would be awesome. However, the way you put it sounds like it would be a sub-par experience for a certain portion of the android community. Would that affect root/roms for this device, since Asus presumably wouldn’t sign those flashed packages.
