Video: Quick First Look at the LG Optimus 4X HD

LG is one of the few big wigs that has a major presence here at CTIA this week, so we stopped by their booth to check out their newest line of Optimus phones. First up is the Optimus 4X HD which so far, has not been announced for the States. It’s currently an international phone with a 1.5GHz Tegra 3 processor, 4.7″ HD display, HSPA+, 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, 2150mAh battery, NFC, and Ice Cream Sandwich.

After playing with it for a bit, I will give LG some credit for once – this phone is very nice. This version of their custom skin is their best yet. They also took things like their native video and camera apps and pumped them up with features that no one else is doing (to my knowledge). It may not be stock, however, this phone is still something to consider if/when it comes to our shores.

    Very sleek and pretty phone.
Specs look nice too. Hopefully it has removable/expandable storage as well.
I really hope it comes to VZW. I’d totally get it.

And to everyone complaining about the LG’s UI. Shut up.
‘Cause you can change that. That’s the beauty of Android. I hate seeing people not buying a phone because of it’s interface. It’s and Android phone, so that means you can make it whatever you want.

Why can’t you run a quadrant standard? It’s right there!!!!

  • RoadsterHD1

This thing is better than the Galaxy SIII

  • RoadsterHD1

1.5GHz quad core….. That’s what i’m talking about. Dual core the past baby!!! It’s time to talk QUAD’S

    • Anon

      Umm….why?

I’m a geek and all, but truth be told, how much parallel multitasking is done on a smartphone? How many of us can max out four cores on a smartphone?

I think adequate bandwidth (e.g., quality nationwide LTE coverage) is a far bigger deal. I’d trade a quad-core for dual to get that, or a high-quality screen any day.

If VZW would adopt this phone and leave the design alone, I would probably get this. VZW has a really bad habit of f..kin’ up all of LG’s babies. Grrr…

    • OhAaron

LG does a good job of that on its own. ;)

  • strows

looks plain and boring, no sex appeal…

    • Btown

Do you really need sex appeal from a phone? I want my phone to be visually pleasing, sure. You would probably also be intersted in naked girl(or guy depending on which way you swing) live wallpaper.

Wouldn’t touch an LG phone with a 39 and a half foot pole… no seriously, this thing could have the highest specs on the market and I wouldn’t even bother considering it. Their craptastic software, buggy phones, cheap build quality, and terrible design make LG phones a no no.

  • palomosan

Actually I want that camera app.

  • madhatter

I’d be lying if these new LG phone’s weren’t making me drool. I just wish they would use the on screen buttons.

  • mustbepbs

It just looks so uncomfortable to hold. The edges seem way too sharp. Maybe I’m just spoiled from the GNex’s sensuous curves.

    • blood

Could be far worse like the razr’s edges.

  • johhny

What is new with the camera app?

(In before a shitstorm of LG haters’ spam.)

I’ll just wait until it’s available in the stores here and check it out myself. Will probably wait for XT898 anyway.
