Nope, not true, I’ve been able to drop it down to 3G or 1X at times…some people on some devices have lost all connection but that is not the case across the board.

Went to a Verizon store and they said that if it keeps happening that they will always replace it for free… that’s y I love Verizon

Why is this news? Didn’t Verizon say at the end of January that ALL smartphones were required to be LTE from that point on? With the exception of push to talk phones.

Underhanded isn’t even the word for it; but outside of dropping VZ or buying something used, it’s what you get. My wife was looking for a basic texting phone about a month or so ago, so we went into a VZ store, and while they had smartphones and tablets scattered throughout the store, the only featurephones were about 7 of them in a corner. Even the website offers only a few more choices.

They need to deploy voice/SMS over LTE first. Right now LTE is data-only.

Then I stand corrected, but that wasn’t my original intent. I was just saying a basic dial pad and address book phone really doesn’t have anywhere to go. It’s all been done. My mom’s still running an original RAZR and swears by it. But if Verizon isn’t stocking those types of phones anymore, that’s pretty under-handed.

Perhaps you haven’t looked at VZW’s stock lately, but no, there are not plenty of basic phones to choose from. For instance, show me a featurephone with qwerty keys and a better camera than 2 MP; you could do that 2 yrs ago with the EnV3, but you can’t now. Verizon is very obviously pushing everyone toward smartphones, ie data plans.

At this point, I doubt anyone could “unveil” a non-smartphone that hasn’t been done before. If you dont want internet, 4G, or a touchscreen, there are plenty of phones available now to choose from. Why would manufacturers want to reinvent the wheel?

Here it stops west of the turnpike, too. The turnpike is many miles east of where it is at milemarker 12 in Kendall, though. Can’t wait till it gets west on 2013.

lake grove here. grrrr. we got a higher population in suffolk than some states have …i was told by my friends dad who works for dept of works that its partly political. Suffolk wants VZW to pay up for the lines/space etc… and they are negotiating. From what i’ve been told, they are ready to execute, but its being tied up because of money. (enter typical statement about how no one is going to believe me etc… oh well lol)

Even if Apple were to wait another generation, which seems highly unlikely given the 4G LTE iPad, do you really think Apple would listen to Verizon’s “requirement?”
