Am I the only one to have the screen break side to side, one line about 1/4 way up from bottom . No drop , just noticed it layin on table. don't know how that happened. Oh wait: same thing happened to my wifes razor 2 days later. same kind of break, same place on phone. No abuse,no rough treatment, no drops. quite fed up with it. just wondered if anyone else ad like problem.

Is it? Including the screen? Actually I really hate it that all screens are glass now. I have dropped my HTC Magic countless times. On carpets, laminate, tiles, asphalt, down the stairs (stone), ... the little speaker grill has disappeared, the paint has chipped away, but the phone is still working. And the screen was after all of this hardly scratched. No problem at all. AFAIK it is a plastic screen, though somehow toughened. Also the phone is raised around the screen, so it is unlikely that the screen hits the floor when dropped. but new phones have glass from one end to the other... so you are very likely to smash the glass. If only the Magic had faster hardware.

DO NOT BUY DROID RAZR!!! Bought 3 Droid Razr for company less than a month ago. Two out of the three have shattered screens from regular use (drop less than two feet onto grass and edge was sat on while on sofa). Definately not "Gorilla" glass!!!! Also cost more to replace glass because you have to replace LCD also.

My droid razr died from a pocket drop aswell, half the screen shattered and the rest cracked. Gorilla glass blows its not scratch proof either, I would have still had my phone if the screen was plastic or maybe real bullet proof glass would be awesome.

What? How is that even a case against the Galaxy Nexus? The screen on the Razr can't handle anything at all. It makes it seem like it isn't even Gorilla Glass.

That was a pretty hard drop... carpet or no carpet. That little phone rotation he was doing near the end was really annoying though.

I was thinking that flat glass allows for a higher probability points where a high localized pressure can be placed and crack the glass.

On the Nexus a flat fall would result in the edges seeing a glancing blow of being chipped on the edges. I also assume that a curved glass may actually be stronger than a flat glass (kind of like a round fender is much stronger than when it was a flat piece of metal.

Of course this is all just merely assumptions. Could be worse or better than flat... can't wait to find out...

My nephew dropped my OG Droid out a 2nd story widow on to concrete and all it was scratch that raised edge it has and brought the bottom left corner up to date with Motorola's new cut corner design lol. If had fallen face FIRST it would of either shattered or I would of had a repeat of what happen to an OG Droid had ealier in the year when I dropped on a tile floor and the display stopped working right.

The glass is so thin on these phones i don't think it matters much which type of fortified glass is used when it comes to impacts. I think it's more ment for scratch resistance and both of these phones should do well in that.
