First I would like to say that I don't care for Apples products. Now let that sink in for a minute, then set it aside. Steve Jobs was a genius, whether anyone likes it or not. That man did more in his 56 years than most will do in a lifetime. Steve Jobs took a leather chair and a table and damn near turned it into a marketing trademark. How many others can say that? Say what you will about his company, but he managed to turn rhe tech world on its ear and made Apple one of the most profitable tech companies in US history. That in itself deserves respect in its own right whether you are an Apple fan or not. Before Steve Jobs was Apple, he was someones father, son, husband, brother, and most importantly, a human being. So let us stop with the sickening, disrespectful comments, and pretend for a second, that he could have been someone in YOUR family, or a friend that YOU cared about. Please do something to show that we have at least become a little more civilized as the human race. Okay i'm off the damn soap box now.

Alright, I'll give you the Apple II, being that it's in the Smithsonian. I could still debate how 'innovative' it was.

Macintosh? You mean the product that the company almost went out of business for in the 90s?iPod, hardly. Although you COULD make a strong case for iTunes, considering it's pretty obvious that Jobs had to have direct negotiations with the record companies to be allowed to digitally distribute the music. Without iTunes, the iPod would have been just another mp3 player. Downloading torrents, music from Kazzaa/Morpheus/Whatever else people were using back then, or ripping legally purchased CDs and properly tagging them was very tedious; iTunes made it easy and legal to get music. I give Apple and Jobs full credit for that, and Jobs for having the idea to get in bed with the record companies. The iPod however, was not very innovative... I mean... a Circle to control the whole thing? What... The... Fuck?iPhone? It was an iPod touch with a radio. Hardly revolutionaryiPad? Oversized iPod with a 3G radio. Hardly innovative or revolutionary.

With the exception of iTunes and it's pairing with the iPod and the Apple II, none of the products were truly innovative products that completely changed how things were done. Early articles that pre-date the iPhone's release talked about Android phones that did everything the iPhone ever did.

I think you're confusing innovation with success. Windows 95 was one of the most successful products of all time, but was it innovative? Everyone knows most of the interface was....... borrowed.... from other places. How about the Game Boy? Innovative? Hardly. Considering the Sega Game Gear had a color screen and an optional TV-Tuner, and the Atari Lynx and TG-16 (can't remember the name of the Handheld device) was 16 bit and could play console games, the GB was really not innovative... but it had a 10+ year run on the market, and is easily the longest lasting hand-held ever released. Innovative, no. Successful, yes.

Also, whatever the name of the LG-Phone, there were touch screen phones out prior to the iPhone, they were just made at a hardware level for stylus use as opposed to a finger.I can't believe I replied to this......

The Apple II, Macintosh, iPod, iPhone, and iPad weren't necessarily the first to do what they did, but they all hugely changed their respective industries. To say they didn't is simply a lie, and so would claiming Steve Jobs didn't have a huge role to play in all of those products. Facts are facts, m'dude. To quote Steve, "What have you done?".

(btw LG Voyager came out after the iPhone; you're probably thinking of the Prada, and both [feature] phones sucked.)

You personally knew him? You interacted with him, worked with him? Or are you feeding into what others have said about him? Personally, he never did anything to me so I won't bad mouth him. I also didn't know him so I won't bad mouth him either. I see that another person lost their battle with a horribly painful disease.

I dont understand why there is so much hate toasted this man. He was a technological genius who had a vision and accomplished it. He let nothing hold him back. That is something to respect. The man is DEAD for heaven's sake. Show some respect and start acting like adults because it's comments like the previous ones that give the android community a bad name. RIP Steve, may your legacy live on.

Nicely said bbeaulieu. Your first name isn't Buck by chance is it? I went to school as a youngster with a very nice guy names Buck Beaulieu. Just curious.

Also, I'd like to add that I never knew Mr. Jobs either but one doesn't have to personally know someone to understand greatness. I never knew Jack Nicklaus other than a signature I got from him at a US Open tournament but I understood his greatness...his focus and his love and passion for a game. I am not going to comment on anyone's ignorant comments so as to avoid being brought down to such a low level of intelligence. I will say that I agree with Lonnie Kerchief, Bassdj, bbeaulieu and anyone else that passes on kind words of respect to a legend of a man...an innovator of our times like that of Mr. Jobs.

I too have never owned a mac but have spent plenty of times using one and admiring many attributes about those machines. I have much respect for Steve and his company Apple for driving everyone else, including Android, Motorola etc to new levels. Because of Steve Jobs and iPhones we now have another successful American company that was near bankruptcy (Motorola). Android is my choice for a phone and has been easily since the first Droid.

Mr. Steve Jobs, you sir will be missed very much. God bless!
