Steve Jobs has Died.

Pretty tough post to even begin to write.  I guess, the first thing that comes to mind is – we just lost an icon.  A man that helped push the entire tech world forward for decades has passed away at the age of 56. Steve Jobs, you sir, will be missed.

Feel free to drop as many kind words in the comments as you would like.

One that will never be replaced, but many will try

We lost one of the worlds greatest today. We have lost a very gifted man.

Men (and women) are great for many reasons that go beyond (and against) my own personal beliefs and attitudes.  No one can deny Steve’s impact on society, and I don’t deny he was a great man in his own right.  I can’t help but to think that Android is a better product for Apple having done what it did, with Steve at the helm.  I feel a great sense of loss over this event.  I am deeply saddened, and offer my deepest condolences to his family.

i almost feel like someone i know died. he was such an amazing person to watch speak. everytime he introduced a product you could see him light up like a child. he had such an enthusiasm for everything his company made. the tech world lost a legend and a true innovator. his legacy will go on for as long as we have computers and cell phones.

  • droidlvr

    I can’t believe this…

The technology world, and the world in general lost a great man.  We wish our condolences to his family.  He will be missed.

The technology world lost a visionary today. Steve Jobs did wonderful things for the world of computing. He changed how we listen to music. He brought us the first worthy smart phone. I have never been a big fan of Apple products, but still appreciate the amount of work Steve Jobs put into the industry to spur the competitive edge that is out there today. With this competitive spirit in the technology world, devices have advanced to far greater potential then would have been possible in the short span of 10 years since the first iPod. As a technology enthusiast, I am thankful for a genius like Steve Jobs. He will be missed!

damn, people gettin all kinds of emotional up in here!

I liked the dude, in a semi-comedic sort of way. I thought he had a charismatic demeanor – I wanted to hate him, but couldn’t help smiling and rolling my eyes. He did a ton for the world of technology, so I respect him and his legacy.

But for real? dudes on an Android blog all like “I almost cried when I heard the news”… for real? shitt, I guess I am a cold bastard…

i guess that makes me a cold bastard too…

Although I am not a big Apple fan, we have to remember that Its more than just a innovator that we lost. It was a human being and a father and a husband. The fact that the battle between Apple and Android is beside the point. We should remember that there are many sick people in the world with cancer and other diseases and a man like him should be remembered as someone that changed the world not just with inventions but moving us into the future. Maybe someday some of the innovations from apple can help diagnose and cure the sick in the world. God bless you Steve Jobs. Defenitley a JOB well done. Im so glad you no longer are suffering.    RIP

as much as i am a fan of android, i loved the products apple put. i almost cried when i heard. the man will go down in history as a genius that led the last decade in technological advancements. RIP very much respect for this man.

I may be an Android man thick and through, but we lost a true legend today.  RIP Mr. Jobs – thanks for all of your contributions…

without Steve, the world might still be lugging around pocket cd players, and phones would still be dumb. I don’t appreciate the patent wars, but i imagine he didn’t have much of a hand in them. Being one of the parents of pixar too, one can’t help but think of how much of a hand he had in crafting the world in which we live today. Rest in peace. The world has lost one of its brightest minds.

  • Niteperson

Like many here, I’ve never been a big fan of Apple products.  That being said, I admired his ambition and vision.  Condolences to his family and friends.  He will be missed.

Even though im a huge andtoid enthusiast, i would like to say R.I.P steve. Ill never forget my first smart phone was an i*phone 3g, your ideas and innovation has changed the tech world forever

  • Iittaalliiaann

Genius. Innovator. Leader. Mentor. Whether you love Apple, Android, Blackberry or WebOS, there is no question, none of us would be enjoying technology like we are today if it was not for this man’s vision.  Love him or hate him, the man is an icon. R.I.P. Steve.  Coming from an Android fan, you will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for what you have given in this world

Steve Jobs was the kind of visionary that set the standard in Computing with Macs, Mobility with iProducts, and Animation with Pixar. That kind of vision made other technology companies strive to do better. As a company, it reminds you that there are still great things that come from America. As a man, it reminds us that we can each make an impact on the world and the people in it. RIP Steve Jobs.

No matter how much we compete in products with them, we will always be thankful for apple. They made technology better and sometimes just as well as android. We will miss you Steve. You were my hero.

  • Tesseract 3

I hate apple and never cared much for steve jobs. However, I cannot deny that he had great influence in the tech world. While I don’t believe most of apples products were truly innovative, he had a knack for getting people interested in existing technologies that no one was paying much attention to. Technologies that might never have been developed without his influence. I don’t think apple did that much that was truly innovative, but I believe that steve jobs has been using his company and influence to push the tech market to greater heights throughout his whole career. Without him there would not have been nearly as much hype, desire, competition or anything in the tech market, and it would never have reached the level it has today. So tonight I raise my glass to jobs, I may never have been a fan, but the world of tech would not be the same without you. You will be sorely missed.

Heres the deal go up to any random person and ask who invented ipod even if they have a droid in their hand.now ask that same person with a droid (even if it is rooted) and ask who invented android. Which is going to be answered consistently correct more? I’ve never owned an i anything but i do enjoy me some android. Rip

wtf..thats just wrong man…we love android and yea the iphone 4s sucks but he changed the tech world man… not cool…

      • DBK

Don’t feed the trolls. Just flag him/her/it and move on.

    • Anonymous

You are a douche and a troll!  Yes we all had issues with Apple here, but there is no denying that he was an great inventor of what people want.  Android would be nothing without him but a linux kernel tinkertoy.  He strove Android to push the boundaries and to overcome what he started.  He knew how to capture people to buy his products.  Love him or hate him….you must at least respect him for what he has done.  Now go crawl back in your hole!

RIP Steve Jobs…a true visionary who knew what we wanted before we did.

My jaw dropped, I just didn’t expect him to die so soon. A good number of people were expecting him to speak at the keynote the other day.

He really has made a huge influence on the tech world, and should be proud of what he has done.

  • Bigyang4life

    RIP Steve Jobs

My Acer Iconia and several Droid phones would likely never have existed, if it weren’t for the ideas and execution of this man. He lead the way and changed the way the world works. I will miss certainly miss him.

  • Jim Quintana

Love his products or hate them…he was the spark behind so many of our tech products. Thank you Steve Jobs, you’re a visionary and inspiration.

  • Tonyward67

It’s hard to believe that he is gone. He changed the face of computing and entertainment as we know it. He will be missed. RIP Steve. GOD bless.

It’s a sad day. I wish people could just put away their differences and just enjoy what they have. Who cares what device you use or what your favorite whatever is. We are ALL people, we are not defined by the devices we use, we are defined by what we do. This man took the bull by the horns, which is a lot more than I can say for many people alive today.

    Technology lost a cornerstone today.
    The world lost an innovator.

    Rest in Peace

  • Robert White

Fighting over who’s phone does this or my OS does that seems pointless now doesn’t it? Even though this day was expected it still hits hard. That someone none of us knew personally, maybe even didn’t care for professionally, touched our lives in profound ways that we have yet to truly appreciate.

Yes I’m Android fan but I’m also a fan of technology & those who bring it to us. I think the most fitting tribute we can pay to Steve Jobs is to say a kind word & thank him for our love of technology.

Go rest high on that mountain good sir… Your work here is done.

  • David

Although your products weren’t on my wish-list your ideas never were less then revolutionary.

This Blows. I Was Really Waiting For Him To Drop The “Next Best Thing.” Now He Can’t Because People Who Get Millions Of Dollars Every Year To Cure Cancer Have Failed Their Job. I’m An Android Addict But Everyone Agrees No Steve Jobs And Android Wouldn’t Be What It Is Today. So What I Ranked On Him Here And There Doesn’t Mean I Don’t Respect What He’s Done. It’s All Fun And Games Until Someone Gets Hurt.

Analogy: Steve Jobs Death Is Like Taking The CPU Out Of A PC.

  • Bill Roche

RIP Steve Jobs! I didn’t drink your Kool-aid, but I sure do respect your contribution to technology!

R.I.P Steve. We have lost a founding father of the Tech World.

  • http://twitter.com/joeyfaulk Joey Faulk

Here is an excerpt from Steve Job’s commencement speech at Stanford in 2005 after explaining some of his initial bout with cancer:

“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.”

His words are something to consider. We each must live in the light of eternity.

“You don’t even know what tomorrow will bring–what your life will be! For you are a bit of smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes” (James 4:14, HCSB).

Without Steve Jobs there is no iOS which would mean Android would not be where it is today.

  • claydos66

To the Jobs tamily, technology couldn’t be what it is today without innovation from people like Steve. From his start in his garage building boards that started the revolution of the computer age to idea of meetings media, phone, video and entertainment into one tight package. He was, is and will always be a role model for young technology oriented people to know that dreams can come true. It takes a lot of hard work, sacrifice and dedication. In the end, the most beautiful things would exist. To all who read this, without steve, computers would suck. Android wouldn’t be here. Smartphones wouldn’t be thought of. Without Steve doing what he did, we would have been lost as a society and culture. Thanks Steve for everything you have done to invent, inspire and benchmark against. You were the exception to the rule.

Innovator that kept Apple on the cutting edge all the time. I would venture to say they won’t be the same without his genius leading them….RIP…..
