Motorola Spyder Codename Pops Up Again and in Photos, Could be the DROID RAZR

Last month we reported on a new Motorola device codenamed Spyder that at first, was popping up around the web as the DROID HD.  Now, thanks to a set of images and word from sources over at This is my next, this device has been confirmed and could end up as the DROID RAZR at launch.  Name ring a bell?  It was only a matter of time before that iconic mobile phone name was rehashed by the folks at Moto.

So what do we have inside?  It has a 4.3″ qHD screen except it’s not PenTile matrix and is instead Super AMOLED (possibly a world’s first).  There is a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (possibly a “turbo” OMAP4), 4G LTE (Verizon), 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, “HD” front camera, and webtop capabilities.  The outer build is “Gorilla Glass and a Kevlar casing with a splash-guard coating.”

What we are noticing is that sexy new angled look that Moto has adopted, something we most recently saw on our exclusive pictures of the XOOM 2.  We also love the side lock switch and of course, how incredibly thin this phone is.

No word on a time frame for release, but are crossing our fingers for the holidays.

Two more pictures after the break.

Anyone in love?  Thoughts on the RAZR name?

Via:  This is my next

Cheers ddevito!

    Good job Moto.

I’d still rather have the Bionic though. Too many damn bills to afford it right now…..

  • Anonymous

Moto did it again, this device will be awesome

  • http://www.facebook.com/mobrienjr Michael OBrien

wow, thats all I have to say…that has to be the sexiest, cleanest, most polished phone to date…decisions decisions decisions

  • Anonymous

The name is going to sell VERY WELL! It actually just might be the successor to my first android phone ever, the Droid X. Very sexy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/omgitzjose Jose Guitian Cicero

    dosnt look RAZR thin.

    • Anonymous

It can’t be razor thin, it will have lte in it

  • http://www.facebook.com/mariafe.c.oneill Maria Fe Camaya O’Neill

I’m not really into this design with the curved in corners but if it’s anything like my Xoom it will be built like a tank.

  • Grimfur

    ugly.

  • Anonymous

    Bionic who?

    opps, I meant

    HTC Vigor who?

    opps, I meant

    Droid Prime who?

What the F.  I’m afraid to see what CES 2012 will look like.  Most likely quad core.

  • Anonymous

    Looking kind of sexy there…..hhhhmmmm

  • http://twitter.com/1337_hAx0r77 Mike Stratton

huh… ok, so Moto just wrecked the razr name. Really moto? What justifies RAZR here? I hear RAZR and i think THIN. honestly, i feel you couldve named the X the RAZR. This? just .. no. Not impressive at all. The Prime is gonna mop the floor with this…

    • Anonymous

It will mop the floor with you idiot

  • Droids razr

Whoa, motorola just put a halt to the galaxy nexus talk., this is serious. What are we going to do?

    • Staticx57

by doing what exactly? what about this phone is superior?

  • Anonymous

Motorola makes the BEST hardware ever. All they need is the software to match. Motoblur sucks!

    • Anonymous

the new motoblur is actually pretty suite. the old motoblur was crap. but nowadays, who cares! most people boot the phone up and throw a home launcher on top of it like Go! Launcher :)

      • Anonymous

I agree why people complain so much.

  • Stephentwilmotdoxey

Hopefully it won’t have major issues like the original razr

  • James Pollard

I’m noticing the Menu softkey is looks similar to the one on the OG Droid and not the ones on all the blur phones. Possible hint for Vanilla Android?

  • Tomgillotti

Alright Moto… first decent looking device since OG Droid. Still, as some have mentioned, not quite what I want to see… Let’s see a button-less device that will OBVIOUSLY be no-doubt a 4.0 ICS phone…

    Sammy…?

    HTC…?

Not bad Moto, but you still have been disappointing lately — Droid 3 w/o LTE… Droid X2… same… Droid Bionic… too late to the 1st gen LTE phone game to be relevant (despite your sales based purely on hype and marketing). Let’s see a true first again…

    • Anonymous

It has buttons on the bottom? Clearly they aren’t part of the screen like ics is since they are in the bezel.

  • Anonymous

After the Bionic problems with delays, my still 3G Xoom, I think I will pass. I have my OG Droid and Droid X and love both, but I think this is where me and Moto part ways… Hello Samsung and Prime for me!

    • Anonymous

Which one do you love more the bionic or droid 1?

  • EC8CH

Menu button isn’t typical blur icon..

And man is that a sexy design.

    • Anonymous

I want to see which thing about this device people will complain about

      • DBK

So far it has been the corners and the buttons.

        • Anonymous

Lol i laugh at those sheeps that are still waiting for a perfect device

          • DBK

I wouldn’t call them sheep (that;s reserved for the phanboys). I would call then impatient and too demanding. People will need to pick a phone that works for them and move on. And those same people need to stop acting like phanboys and stop praising phones because of looks and brand.

          • Anonymous

They follow what other people say so they are sheeps impatience and stupid

  • Anonymous

If all those specs and this design is really what comes to market, it might be my next phone. Damn.

  • Vanilla Ice

Cool, another Motorola phone with a hump on the back for VZW.

  • Waknatious

    It’s beautiful.  It’s Motorola.  It’s up-to-date, specs-wise.  I wish I could wait that long.

  • http://twitter.com/OptimusIM Olatunji

If it doesnt have ICS I dont want it.

  • http://www.toysdiva.com Toys Samurai

I think Super AMOLED does use PenTile — it is the Super AMOLED Plus that gets rid of the PenTile pixel matrix.

    • Anonymous

I think it uses pentile but a different type of pentile than moto uses. I may be wrong but I thought that was how it was.

      • http://www.toysdiva.com Toys Samurai

There’s only two types of PenTile pixel matrix: RGBG, and RGBW. RGBW saves more energy, but has inferior visual quality than RGBG. HOWEVER, that doesn’t make RGBG look great. If you look up some comment about the initial build of the Nexus One, which uses a Super AMOLED display, people were complaining the screen quality back then also.

  • Trusttheman85

Im loving the next gen of phones coming out… as someone who works in the field, i love seeing android pumping out phones that tear the i*hone to shreads. and for folks who say Bionic look like last years tech… its a monster of a phone that has passed every rigorous test i put it through. a shame i got the charge first (or as i call the fasinate 1.5 aka the droid peice)

  • http://iamandroid.co/profile/rocktoonz Rocktoonz

I’m really beginning to like those angled corners.  It’s a design that doesn’t detract from the overall form, and really sets Moto phones apart from the pack.  I’m also happy that pentile crap is going away.

Does the thinness of this LTE phone mean they finally have onboard LTE chips now instead of an addon that makes for the thicker phones?

  • tjmonkey15

No camera button = dumb.  They need to up the screen resolution to keep up with the phones rumored to be hitting Verizon in the semi-near future (Prime and Vigor).

    • Anonymous

Most phones coming out now don’t have a camera button…

      • tjmonkey15

I know; I’m not a fan.  I don’t understand why they all feel the need to exclude it.

    • Anonymous

Moto is putting better display on their device, who will beat them now

  • fartbubbler

b-b-b-but…. if there’s no pentile, what are people going to complain about?

    it’s too light?  too thin?

    too locked bootloaderish?

    • http://tristanleawesome.tumblr.com Tristan the Marine

It won’t be light, I can tell you that much. Kevlar is incredibly heavy.

      • Kixofmyg0t

So is glass. What’s ur point?

OHHHH that’s right….you read the word Kevlar and thought about SAPI plates…..

    • Anonymous

They will find something to complain about, maybe the thickness of the device

  • Anonymous

Still hearing CES debut, but who knows….

  • RECK

im in love. please wait 9 months to push this phone moto and then ill be able to upgrade lol. or make it affordable atleast. say 300 retail? that would be soo appealing since by the time i can get the prime it’ll be old news like my DX

  • Anonymous

Wonder if the bootloader will be encrypted?

  • Jason Purp

The new gimmick is HD display. This phone does not have it.

The soon-to-be new gimmick is no buttons with Ice Cream Sandwich. This phone has buttons.

Oh, and I think the phone looks ugly.

Also, the button on the side is for the camera.

  • RW-1

    1. From here it will go downhill – they will take another 9 months to get it to market.

    2. Screw it up with Blur.

    3. Now they’re desperate, combining names in hopes of suckering in those that had Razr’s.

    • Txbeaner

Oh tha razr 2 memories….lol was a good phone tho. Think mine still might be way back in the closet somewhere lol

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

I don’t get it…why wasn’t this the Bionic instead? After 9 months it should have been this phone.

    • Anonymous

Because then this would have taken another 9 months to release.

      • Anonymous

Ha yes! I bet they will show this phone off during CES And then months later it will come out.. I’ll be surprised if they released this before december.

        • Anonymous

Moto could have had something big if they released this around the same time as the vigor and prime. But they will wait and by the time they actually release it it will be old news just like the bionic.

        • Mr Lite8907

I actually want this to come out next year as i’m still under my two year

Sorry moto, maybe see you in 2 years… maybe…

    • captain obvoius

Yea nexus rumor specs do look good. Have you heard of the next galaxy s3 with 2.0ghz.
Man ill be waiting for that

It is fine with me.  I don’t care about what is on the outside, only what is on the inside.  And i don’t believe it has been confirmed what it will be made out of anyways.

        • Anonymous

cheap plastic, what do you expect from samsung

  • Anonymous

Can’t say I’m fond of the squared off corners, looks like a nice device though.

  • Cree

Again what’s so different than this and the Bionic. Marketing spin to ploy people into buying this phone. If Moto copies the performance from the Galaxy SII it will have success. Until then its another Bionic with a SUPERAMOLED display. Nothing big to write home about.

This is someone that had a Droid1, current TBolt owner.
    Cree

    • Anonymous

better quality ffc, possible faster processor, screen could be enough for many. May be thinner than the bionic?

    • DBK

      1) The GS2 only looks better than the Bionic. It does not perform better.

      2) Droid HD (I will never call it the Razr) is the only phone coming out that is actually better than the Bionic. Better CPU, better camera, better screen, possibly better 4G chip, and possibly better battery life.

      3) If anything the other phones coming out are just more Bionics, with slight variations (different displays, different form factors and one or two different features (specific to each OEM)).

      • Anonymous

The prime is said to have the 4460 which would make it better in that department. Plus an hd super amoled screen. But I agree with the rest of your points.

        • DBK

But I believe the RAM won’t be DDR2, so that improvement won’t mean much because it still will only be as fast, not faster.

          • Anonymous

If it uses an OMAP4 it will have DDR2 ram.

      • http://twitter.com/droid1967 Droid 1967

overall maybe but the graphics chip in the samsung device wipes the floor with any of the others right now.
Glad you like the bionic and im sure its a decent device but comparing all devices as it being a baseline just isnt a reality.
i agree that moto seems to make the best constructed phones and normally the best antenna’s and if thats what your basing it on than i cant argue.  Or if the built in desktop stuff is your fancy, than noone else has that.
But other than that all these rumored phones are uping the specs of the bionic.  This one here is pretty much the same thing with a different screen and the turbo model of the same processor.  everyone has done the same thing with their older chips. tegra also has a 1.2 coming that is a tweaked tegra 2.
so if you have a bionic and the screen is fine for you there is absolutely no reason to get this phone.

as for your 1st point that is just dream land the galaxy s-2 does perform better mainly due to the hardware acceleration drivers they built. and the processor and graphics chip is just better.  is this performance something you see on a daily basis probably not but its definatley there.  now if they change the processor from their own to a snapdragon for the galaxy s2 lte than that will throw all that out the window.

Not trying to dump on you but many read these and take what is said as the word of god. and your post is just not accurate.

        • DBK

The thing there is that the chips the other phones are using aren’t as powerful as the Bionic’s, thus the slight increase in clock speed or the acceleration drivers won’t mean much (even less so considering the the Bionic is the only one with DDR2 RAM).

If it does run better (and it would only be slightly) it’s do more to the UI being more efficient and not bogging it down, and not the hardware. And like you said, the GS2 has spurts of good performance while the Bionic’s is constant.
My comparisons are more accurate and realistic then most on here. There is too much Moto/Blur hate going around and it’s blinding people to an amazing device.Liking another device is fine, since that preference is almost always based on brand and physical appearance. But to say that the Bionic is outdated or will be when these other phones come out, tech-wise, is just plain wrong. To try to pass that as fact is worse.

    • Anonymous

That’s why you are mad lol

  • Obvious Sarcasm

If it’s going to be called a RAZR, then it better be the thinnest phone out there. Otherwise, it’s just sullying the name.

    • Anonymous

its motorola so i doubt it will be thinner then the GSII

      • Anonymous

If they finally ditch that HUGE crappy 8MP camera that they have been using, it could be that thin.  The profile shots above look pretty slim.

I would take a 5MP that took better pics and was thinner any day over the 8MP.  Who really needs an 8MP cam on a smarphone?  I don’t plan on printing posters of my smartphone pics and don’t think the quality is high enough to zoom to full resolution anyhow.

        • DBK

Agreed. As long as the sensor is good, the amount of MP won’t matter.

          • Anonymous

The sensor is part of it, but cam software is a huge part too.  Moto needs some help in the cam dept. with both a new sensor and some better cam software.  They are basically using a slightly skinned version of stock Android camera app.  On my dinc2, it has an 8MP shooter that takes very good pictures.  Better than the moto.  Now this camera is great, but the software makes just as much of a difference.  When I run CM7 on the dinc2, I get poor quality pictures that don’t work as well with the camera.  MIUI I get very good pictures, but the stock Sense camera app takes the best pictures.  So a better smaller image sensor (they obviously exist) and better camera software would help moto a lot.  That is the one thing I have hated about the Moto Droids… The camera sucks.  Droid 1 through to the Droid Bionic, they all use the same 8MP camera.

          • DBK

My D2 took good pics, but yeah I agree. Forgot about the software.  :)

          • Anonymous

except the OG only had a 5mp…other than that, your argument is solid

          • Anonymous

Haha yeah good point. Not sure why I said Droid 1.  I meant Droid X.  I use my Droid 1 nearly every day, so I better know it is a 5MP. lol  Either way, that sensor was not much better than the 8MP they use now.  And the camera software is still crap.  The best smartphone camera I have ever had though was the 3.2MP cam in the Blackberry Tour 9630.  Yeah it wasn’t the highest resolution, but damn, did it take very nice pictures, even in low light.  If Moto could get a camera that took pictures like that…  Heck the LG Dare from a few years ago with its 3.2MP was better quality, but that was actually a very nice camera on a feature phone.

      • Anonymous

it doesnt have to be thinner, i know it will be better

It will have a AMOLED Display, so YES it will be thinner dumb a**

Rumored 1.2GHz with 1GB RAM and 8MP camera made by Motorola that might have Blur..
or rumored 1.5GHz with 1GB RAM and 8MP camera made by Samsung that might have Ice Cream Sandwich..

    Decisions, decisions. I’m sorry, Motorola.

    • Blood

This won’t get released till next year and then more delays.

    • DBK

The 1.5ghz processor is not as advanced as the Bionic’s, therefore those speeds are actually going to be the same. However, since the Bionic is the only phone with DDR2 RAM, that actually allow it to perform as if it had more RAM then the others and make it faster then them, regardless of CPU speed.

The only real difference is going to be the UIs. And to be honest, I would rather a polished Blur (which can be removed/replaced through root) over a rushed pure ICS that will be replaced soon after with Jellybean. But I am looking forward to ICS nonetheless.

      • Billy Jenkins

You sound like the android version of an Apple fanboy. lol. The Bionic has a 1 ghz processor. and the Droid Razr will have a 1.2 Ghz processor but the Bionics processor is still more advanced then the Droid Razr which is .2 Ghz higher and bother are dual core with 4g. You are either the droid version of an apple fanboy or just a Droid Bionic in denial that buying the Bionic was a bad decision after the 9 month delay

        • DLife

I wish people actually knew how processors worked. Just because something is CLOCKED .2 higher than another processor doesn’t mean that it is necessarily better. Do some research on processors before making assumptions that it is better.

          • Obvious Sarcasm

Totally agree. In order to see any substantial improvement the clock speed needs to be at least double. So jumping on a Bionic from an OG Droid will see an improvement. And jumping from a Bionic to the newer phones that have 2.0ghz which won’t come out any time this year will see an improvement.

          • Scott Hartman

You don’t have to double speed to see the difference, a 20% increase in actual compute speed is perfectly observable.  It’s just that with two different chipsets CPU speed doesn’t equate 1:1 with computing speed – what you want to know is the actual rate of calculation (generally measured in FLOPs – floating point operations per second), and what it will be calculating (i.e., where the bottleneck is).  From an enduser’s point of view on a phone these days it’s often RAM amount (and speed) and GPU speed that actually result in a “faster” experience.  In that case of course screen resolution is also important, since higher rez screens have more pixels that have to be calculated (in the case of the Bionic vs Raze/HD this won’t be a factor).

          • Obvious Sarcasm

Hmm ok. If only I remembered the formula to calculate total improvement between two machines. Looks like I gotta pop open my Comp Organization book! Lol.

          • Anonymous

Especially depending on what the processor really is. It could be an OMAP or a Snapdragon 8660. Completely different CPI.

          • Obvious Sarcasm

I don’t know much about the different CPU’s but do any/all of them perform pipelining? That way CPI wouldn’t be much of a factor if scheduling was set up right.

        • DJstinkDIK

clock speed doesnt mean its faster.

            cock speed does!

        • http://twitter.com/droid1967 Droid 1967

well this is true to an extent such as a samsung processor at 1.2 will kill a snapdragon at 1.2
but this phone has the same processor as the bionic but is the turbo version so its clocked to .2 ghz more makes it better than bionics processor since its the same and is clocked higher it is better.

          • Kixofmyg0t

A Samsung processor at 1.2 will overheat if ur doing pretty much anything with it.

One of our medics took his Galaxy S2 back to the store and traded it for another phone. He hated it. It constantly over-heated. I’m trying to switch him the the dark side and go with Verizon.

          • http://www.facebook.com/motorolazine Motorola Zine

I have Samsung Galaxy S2 and SonyEricsson Arc have same problem over heated and the screen of Samsung Galaxy S2 is really awful like 65,000 colors phone. Samsung Galaxy S2 and SonyEricsson Arc have so many crashed and freeze.

I’d have to agree with you on the overheating, but the rest of your comment just seems like you’ve never even seen a GSII.

        • DBK

If you even paid attention to the conversation you would have known that I was talking about the Prime, not the HD. The HD will be the only phone that will be better, tech-wise, then the Bionic.

Classic case of “open mouth, insert foot”.

        • Str8RippinEm

I bought the Bionic and I don’t care what anyone says, the thing is a BEAST

      • http://twitter.com/droid1967 Droid 1967

mostely agree.  the graphics chip in the bionic is better than the snapdragon also.  but the extra speed may make up for that but are we sacrificing battery life and heat to get that.
as for the ddr2 that wa a big talking point. But benchmarks have shown no advanatage at all and it still benches slower than the gs2.
I think when you team 1.5 ghz with ddr2 than we may see something but i just dont think the 1ghz is taking advanatge of the ddr2 . maybe the procesor speed at this time is the bottleneck but for now the ddr2 has shown nothing to say its an advantage over other phones usage.
and ddr2 does nothing to make it as more ram it transfers data faster and i think at this time the data bottleneck isnt at the ram thus why we arent seeing the advantage of the higher speced ram.

      • Anonymous

I agree but the bionic cant stay king forever

        • DBK

Oh I definitely agree. It will get beaten soon, just not by the phones coming out this year (with the exception of the Droid HD – if it comes out this year).

          • Anonymous

By next year when devices come out with quad core 2 g of ram etc

          • DBK

I don’t know if they are going to utilize quad core in phones yet, but you’ll definitely see a jump in processor speed and amount of RAM. It’s going to be a whole new ball game next year.

          • Anonymous

I cant wait for it. I would love that manufacturers concentrate more on the ram rather than speed

          • Anonymous

The Krait processors will have dual channel memory controllers again at 500MHz instead of the 333MHz single channel in the current dual core snapdragons.  That will open the door for better RAM.  1GB seems to be plenty for most.  The more they put in there, the bigger the manufacturer skins will get…

          • DBK

That is one issue I see. The OEM skins complicate the OS enough (although I do like the new Blur). I can’t imagine what will happen when it has that much more RAM to use.

          • Anonymous

I am fairly certain that is exactly what HTC did with my Droid Incredible 2.  It has 768mb of ram, of that 630mb is available to the user, and out of the box it has about 200mb free.  That is about the same as what the original Droid Incredible had free out of the box with 512mb of ram.

          • DBK

lol That’s exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that. The more RAM it has, the more it will use for the UI. That may not be a good thing.

          • Anonymous

Yeah with MIUI on it and Go Launcher and all the rest of the running processes and services of my 200+ apps I still have 263mb free right now.  That is more than out of the box with Sense 2.1 on it.  Can’t imagine Sense 3.0.  I bet the international Sensation owners (the ones with 768mb ram) feel like it is a little bloated.

          • DBK

Same here. lol I am still trying to figure out how that is possible.  :P

            If you can’t imagine 3.0, you probably won’t acknowledge 3.5.  :P

          • Anonymous

I don’t see 3.5 going mainstream.  I think it will stay an offshoot for the Bliss and Rhyme series, a la Sense for Ladies.  My guess is that 3.5 will morph some of its features into whatever next mainstream version they release, likely 4.0.  And I don’t even know how much RAM that beast eats up.

          • DBK

            Good point.

And I shudder to think how much of a RAM eater that will be…..

          • Doug

I’ve been hearing 3.5 will be a lighter version due to all the negative feedback 3.0 got due to being so slow.

          • Anonymous

Not if they do not put a skin in it. I will be content with 1.5 and up

    • HDDroid

This phone looks sick!  Finally we can forget about the Bionic and move on to an actual Moto phone that can compete with the Vigor and Prime.
It’s shaping up to be a good holiday season for Verizon owners and us OG Droid owners will have some good options to choose from.

      • DroidRAZR

I agree, Super Amoled qHD, turbo 1.2 OMAP4, HD front cam, Gorilla glass w/Kelvar splash coating. Not to mention the design is awesome. This definitely blows away the Bionic in both looks and specs.
Can’t wait to replace this OG Droid and the RAZR Droid sounds more then worthy.

    • Barbacoa

I would bet that i may not have blur, and if it does i would bet it wont last. I say this mostly because google owns them now

  • Anonymous

This better hit about the same time as the Vigor and the Droid Nexus
Prime Samsung Phone Thingie With ICS and A Super Long Name By Verizon
(in an attempt to compete with the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch by
    Sprint).

All three of these devices make the Bionic look like last year’s news. Not sure which would be the device of choice now…

Moto build quality is amazing (most droids, anyway) and the radio is always top notch.
HTC is usually pretty easy to hack to pieces and the camera (in the dinc2 at least) is better than Moto.
Samsung has great screens and may get ICS first. They are cheap and plasticy feeling though.

    • Anonymous

Agree if it launches after the prime and with gb it will be a fail.

    • captain obvoius

Yea once prime.vigor. comes out another phone will come out with better speca and make this phones look like last years speca and oh guess what after those new one comes out abother one will out do them and hey guess what again. Another phone comes out with better spec
Glad we got smart people lile you

      • Anonymous

Why don’t you read your own post before making claims about others’ intelligence?

That said, I was taking a stab at the Bionic that actually IS last year’s news that just finally saw the light of day.

        • DBK

And yet it’s specs still beat out anything that is currently available and will just barely beat out most anything that is coming out (this year at least). It may last years news (since that is when it was announced) but it is definitely not old tech (actually it’s as far from it as you could possible get).

          • captain obvoius

Yep. Just cause a rumor was announce last year doesnt mean the device is a last year spec.
I wanna knoe how you manage to figure out how the spec is last years?

        • Anonymous

          Shut up lol

        • Anonymous

Hey numbnuts, the Bionic was announced in January, that’s not last year and it’s not the same phone that’s out now.

God I wish Moto would have given this phone a different name so all you assclowns would stfu with this last year’s specs nonsense.

      • OGDroidfan69

Wow, before you put down someone elses intelligence, you may want to proof read your post for both spelling, run-on sentences and gramar.  If I just used your post to make a guess about you, I would say that either you never graduated high school, or English is not your first language.  Plus factoring in your attitude, I would guess that you are very proud of your ignorance.

    • DBK

And none of those will be more powerful or faster than the Bionic and will actually be inferior tech-wise (overall). The Droid HD will be the only phone (this year) that will actually surpass the Bionic tech-wise (and it looks nicer, too).

      • Anonymous

Since it is all speculation at this point, that is a big claim that everything else will be inferior tech-wise than the Bionic.  Just going to throw some of the speculated details out there and see if any of them are worse than the Bionic… 1280×720 (or 800) HD Screen, 1.5GHz Dual Core Snapdragon (both of those are Vigor rumors) ICS, NFC and SAMOLED+ (Nexus Rumors).  Yeah sure the Bionic has webtop…

All of that said, I love Motorola devices. I have an OG Droid and a Droid X but am currently using my first HTC since WinMo5 – Droid Incredible 2 and I actually like some things about it.  It is definitely not the sturdy metal build I miss from the aforementioned Moto Droids, but it is still pretty solid, has a far superior camera and is much easier to modify (unlockable bootloader via hacks).

If this device launched now, I would buy it in a heartbeat.  I am just afraid that by the time it gets to launch, it will be behind the times and almost ready for EOL.  Oh well.  That is the twisted game we play, I guess.

        • DBK

The processor for the Vigor is less advanced (slightly) then the BIonic’s, thus the increased processor speed means nothing. In actuality, the speeds are going to be the same. As for the screens, they will be different, but not necessarily better. And NFC only means something to us. Even though, it’s not enough of an improvement to pass one phone up for another.

          • Anonymous

            People are sheeps

          • Anonymous

While I personally like TI processors better, I believe the Vigor processor – Snapdragon 8660 (most likely since the rumors indicate Adreno 220, so not likely the next gen Krait version)  clocked to 1.5 GHz will outperform the Bionic just slightly.  If you clocked them both to 1.5 then the Bionic would beat it to death. Twice.  It would be the same processor as the EVO3D just clocked a bit faster.  Still a great processor.

          • DBK

True. But the Snapdragon won’t beat it down like is everyone claiming it will. It may be slightly faster, but that difference will be unnoticeable to the non-geek.

          • Anonymous

Very true.  Now the next gen Snapdragon – the “krait” series that should come out around the holidays or early next year will annihilate the OMAP4 Gen 1, kinda like the Samsung Exynos does now.  Too bad they put them in crappy phones.

          • DBK

Agreed. The Krait would beat it easily. No contest.

          • Anonymous

I think everyone was getting their hopes up for that processor in the Vigor since the HD screen.  I don’t think HTC is that generous.  2 firsts to market on one phone?  Probably not.  I still think it will be a fun device though.  Not as fun as this “RAZR” looks though.

          • DBK

Oh I think it’s going to be a great phone too. I would love to play with it. But I would want to own the Droid HD.

          • Anonymous

Agreed.  That is why I have an HTC now, as Verizon offered it to me as a replacement for the Droid X that had a blown speaker (again) and I am a phone nerd, so I took it since I plan to buy a phone in the next few months anyhow.  I actually like it and it is much easier to run custom ROMs on.  I still like the design and the radio of the X better.  Moto reception can’t be beat.

          • DBK

Oh when it comes to ROMs, HTC’s are awesome (with the exception of the OG Droid). My Incredible is a beast with Miui.

    • Anonymous

      Moto wins

      • Anonymous

I agree.  The way I like to put it is the HTC phone is like a Honda Civic.  Sure, you can make it fast and customize the hell out of it, but it is nothing compared to a pure hot-rod like a Motorola Droid.  It just has that raw feeling that you can’t get out of the other manufacturers.

While I really do like the HTC Droid Incredible I am currently using, I LOVE my OG Droid and the Droid X.  Just something about metal and raw power…

        • Anonymous

I do agree with you. Nobody cant be moto

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josue-Aristy/540455542 Josue Aristy

You said it, moto has best quality!!

Nice but id really like to see a Moto 4.5 inch player. Big thumbs up on the better display though! About time……

    • Anonymous

      4.3 is plenty good.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=660033260 Antion Kevin Taylor

It is a nice size but after holding an Infuse, thats the size for me. Itll probably be as large as I go on a phone though. On the flip side, I love my XOOM but think i want a smaller size for a tablet. Probably  8.9-9.1 will work for me

        • DBK

Having a Bionic, I can say that 4.3 is nice. Anything bigger would be too much (unless it’s just the screen and not the device itself).

As for tablets, 7″-8.9″ is good enough. I have a Nook Color with HC and that is the perfect size for me. I may end up getting the Galaxy 8.9 though.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=660033260 Antion Kevin Taylor

After playing with a 7″, it left much to be desired in size at home but is about perfect for work & travel. I might consider one & get a new laptop. I got rid of my Macbook to go to a tablet. No regrets but i find 10.1 to bulky to whip out at work & 7″ too small for home. Yea its nit picking but i love my toys LOL

        • Anonymous

I don’t like the 10.1 tablets. As you mentioned the 4.5 its not that bad

  • prezbalewski

I wish there was a hierarchy of screens I could check out. So..720p bout to be the best, right? Is this better than qHD? I don’t know. Qhd gotta be mo better than pentile, everyone talks so much shit about pentile.

    • Anonymous

When it says “Super AMOLED (possibly a world’s first.)” what does this mean? World’s first Super AMOLED without PenTile? Well, Super AMOLED Plus doesn’t use PenTile, Super AMOLED does, maybe this was a misunderstanding. If you meant world’s first qHD Super AMOLED, well we all know a 720p Super AMOLED is rumored to be in the Prime or whatever it’s called which will be released before this so I’d say it’s hardly a world’s first. Also why qHD when the trend seems to be 720p on nearly all high end devices launching Q4.

      • Anonymous

I think it is referring to a world first for Motorola using a SuperAMOLED display.  And you are correct that the SAMOLED uses a pentile matrix, but it is not the same Pentile Matrix LCD display found in previous Motorola phones that everyone loves to hate so much.

    I am in love . . . if it’s unlocked!

The Razr and my Droid X are the two best phones I’ve ever owned. I want this so bad!

    • Anonymous

The droid x was king for a long time

      • http://profiles.google.com/davidukfl David Wanless

definitely. I almost want to say it still is, only in the fact there is no phone around right now that makes me want to get rid of my X and upgrade.
I’m glad I didn’t settle for a bionic and decided to hold out for a better phone to come out. This one looks pretty sick

        • Anonymous

Yea but the bionic is the king now. Im the biggest DroidX fan but at the same time im realistic

  • Dan

Soft buttons on the device are just in time for ICS
