Fair enough. I feel like saying it’s not “true subscription” is the wrong term for it, but I can’t really come up with a better one. However, you can contribute to make the community better by uploading correctly tagged stuff and reporting incorrectly tagged music. And the stuff it doesn’t have is often missing because of issues w/ bands, similar to other services. No Beatles, for example. Though I agree, the other services which deal directly w/ the artists sometimes have stuff Grooveshark can’t, like Van Morrison for example. I just wish they had a way to purchase a year or two at a time of their service for a lot less than paying monthly, like Grooveshark’s t-shirt sale I keep mentioning. Not a fan of subscriptions, and I don’t use it enough to justify paying more than $10 or $20 in total for such a service.

Like spotify, Grooveshark doesn’t let you use their mobile app for free. But if you go to the Grooveshark store, you can buy a T-shit for $20 bucks and get a year of their mobile service for free, which is a great deal. At least, you used to be able to. Dunno if they still have that deal.

I hear ya on that teardropcity. You can use both, but just not at the same time. If you log out of one you can login to the other. I was paying the extra 5 bucks a month for a while before I found out about that.

Sounds like I wouldn’t be too much of a fan then if they are that easy to stump
Selection is my biggest concern with these music services since I listen to a lot of rare stuff.

I agree it is an awesome service, but still feel it isn’t a true “subscription” service. I’ve used nearly all the music services out there and put together an extensive research article going through all of them. I understand you can get a subscription, but their library consists of tracks uploaded from other users. The majority of albums I search for I either don’t find on there at all, or I find them but their tags are all messed up because of the user that uploaded them, or there are only 3 tracks of the 11 on the album.

I mean I hear what you are saying, I just meant it more along the lines of not being a true “subscription” service because its not like Rhapsody or MOG or Rdio in that you’ve got the album there or you don’t and the album was added to the library by the company. That’s all I was really saying. I actually had their VIP plan for a while but let it run out because I didn’t use it as much as Rdio due to situations I was running into with their library that I mentioned above. But I’m in the both with you about what is the big deal that Spotify is being loved by everyone.

Just tried it and whenever I click download it opens a new page that says “waiting for…” forever. If I click link and open in new window, it just starts playing the song in a wav file

I’ve been an avid user of GrooveShark for about a year and I have to say Spotify blows it out of the water. Yea, it sucks you have to pay $10/month for mobile access (just like you have to with Rdio, MOG, etc), but you’re paying for a higher quality service. GrooveShark has low quality music that’s ripped from YouTube and is not organized like Spotify (if you search for a song, you get 10 different results for the same song, as opposed to just 1). Finally there’s a music service that’s strong enough to compete with iTunes. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m loving the competition! =D

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. So essentially there is no reason for SiriusXM to exist anymore. I mean,a third of the stations sound llike they’re being played through a tin can anyway.
