Netflix Updated on Android, Now Officially Supports DROIDX on Gingerbread

Netflix on Android just received a spicy little update that brings official support to the DROIDX running Gingerbread.  Previous market versions actually worked a couple of weeks ago on leaked 2.3 for the DX when Team Netflix removed the device check from the app, but now things should be a little more consistent during that installation process.  Go grab it now!

Market Link

Cheers @chad917!

The app installed on my DX (unrooted) but it won’t launch completely. I keep getting errors like “503: Service Unavailable: Back-end server is at capacity”. I guess this means everyone with a DX is trying this at the same time.

      Reboot phone, worked for me

  • j2d2

Its completely insane that they support the Casio G’z and not the Thunderbolt. I think we’re being trolled.

  • j2d2

I refreshed droid life hourly in hopes of support for my Thunderbolt… i give up. :(

I together with my friends have already been following the best things on the blog then at once developed a terrible feeling I never expressed respect to the blog owner for them. All of the boys are actually consequently warmed to read them and already have definitely been taking pleasure in these things. Appreciation for being simply kind and then for figuring out this sort of exceptional ideas most people are really desperate to know about. My personal honest regret for not saying thanks to you earlier.

Still plays back like chipmunks on meth on the rooted Nook color. App doesn’t even show up in the market on the rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab, too bad, would look great on either of these devices.

You can download the apk from half a dozen sited to get around the lack of a market link.

Also, I’m running CM7 on my nook and Netflix plays just fine.

I am so tired of this BS, No thunderbolt support, probably the best suited device for the entire app, streaming movies over 4G

  • MiaC

as of 2:14PST – Go back into the market, it should have an update (now).  I got the same
thing – an error message and some B.S. about time and connectivity.
Downloaded the update that just popped up, now it works.

  • Anonymous

seems to be a universal problem with the date and time and no connectivity hope they fix it soon

  • Anonymous

not working on DX with .596.  Lists an error no network connection or some other BS.

        got it…working now, thx

  • Ozyman666

The market page still says “This app is incompatible with your DroidX.”

    • Ozyman666

Dumb question, but … I upgraded to rooted Gingerbread over the weekend. Is it possible that the market doesn’t know I’m now on Gingerbread?

  • festoon

So many negative comments about Netflix and DX. I tried to install and it would only come up with a white screen and an error note about my Date & Time settings. I have the time set to 24 hour time. I wonder if that makes a difference? Uninstalled.

    • Liberated

Same here. Just posted a message about connection error and now this. FIX IT NOW !!!!!!!!!

Droid and Droid X, Why not Droid 2?

    • Anonymous

seriously, wtf? why does the d2 always get shafted? it was working fine on the hacked app until netflix shut it down. weak!

      • http://twitter.com/Chanceman512 Keith

Exactly, I had it working with hacked app on my D2 as well.  So tired of clicking on links to get it and getting that “not found” window.

  • http://www.mygeek911.com mygeek911

Still waiting for the Droid 2 Global. *sigh*

  • Anonymous

    • Anonymous

I run DX on GB and had no problem finding and installing it.

      • Anonymous

I actually have the stock 2.3.3 i came from VZW store yesterday and they said that they dont know why apps dont show at my market. They said that by the end of the month a update should be release bc theres alot of people that can find app in the market.

        • Anonymous

When i got to the market it says this app isnt competible with u’re droid x …i havent rooted or anything…weatherbug dont work alot of stuff dont show up from the market in my phone…

          ANY IDEAS

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=716789798 Lonnie Kerchief

Maybe it needs to be .596, if you’re not on that version.

  • Booboolala2000

Seems the Droid Charge should get this too as it is the best looking screen and has 4g.

  • Britboy3000

Where my Dinc 2 love at?!

  • Leo Clark

Any News on the official Netflix for HTC Thunderbolt?

  • Tom Crews

Works great on my Viewsonic 10″ Gtablet running CM7.03.

Still don’t understand why Xoom/Transformer/Acer/etc….aren’t getting a version for Honeycomb.  Tablets are ideal for watching Netflix on the go…

  • Sackdaddy

That’s nice.  Saw this and uninstalled the previous working version and went to the market to get this one and get the following message: Error – Please make sure that your device has network connectivity and the Date and Time settings are accurate.  WTF?!?

    • Sackdaddy

      Disregard.  It’s working now.  I’m a tard :(

      • festoon

Did you do anything? I get the same message and I thought it was because I have the time set to 24 hour time. Still not working for me after setting to 12 hour time.

Root and install a Gingerbread ROM.

      • Jeremy Gentry

did that! and it was working, and then found at that the leaked radio was causing bricks. FREAKIN RIDICULOUS

        • Mr. Joshua

New radio from MR2 seems to be less risky. No one has said that it definitely won’t brick, but there seems to be a lot of people using it, and it is the same radio that Froyo users will be using when the update hits.

          • Jeremy Gentry

i already flashed the new mr2 radio because i heard the same thing, everything is running smoothly and i put the new flyweight rom, but its froyo, any suggestions on a gingerbread rom that works with the mr2 radio?

          • Acrusso

das bamf 2.0-5 works fine with the new mr2 radio

          • Jeremy Gentry

thanks man! i googled it and found a place to DL it on XDA =) loved das bamf 1.6 remix while i had it!

          • Mr. Joshua

I am on das BAMF 2.0-5 at the moment. It is the only Gingerbread rom I’ve used so far. I love the Sense 3.0 elements (mainly the weather lockscreen, it is awesome!). They have a new remix version out, and I’ve seen good things about Gingeritis, but haven’t flashed any of the others yet.

          • Xpsu06

Gingeritis easily doubled my batt life.

          • Mr. Joshua

Compared to stock or das BAMF or another rom?

          • mike jones

            huh? ginger tits?

    • hfoster52

Or D2G……..   Maybe after the update?

  • Anonymous

Because I’m rooted I’m always very hesitant to update my Netflix app. Titanium is the only reason I actually do, since I have a backup.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Emaw-Kennedy/504157652 Michael Emaw Kennedy

why are you hesitant to update netflix?

    • Anonymous

works for me.  Works great, even though I am rooted.  I understand the fear of updating.

  • http://www.twitter.com/slinky317 slinky317

Desperately needs support for the Xoom.  Come on Moto, work with Netflix to get this moving.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

Exactly. The device it would be best suited for doesn’t have support yet. C’mon Netflix!

      • Pat Morton

well i don’t think anyone said netflix was smart enough for a smartphone. when they release official netflix support after months they forget to release support for the best tablet (xoom) the best verizon phone (thunderbolt), and the atrix which i think is the best at&t phone. instead they release support for phones like the incredible 1. thats after verizon releases the incredible 2.

    • Rizzidy

      lolxoom
