Many features are OK, like T9 recognition in the dialer, the tracking app from motoblur webpage or some widgets, but it still takes to many ram and battery in my opinion. With stock 2.3 you can swipe on individual notifications to aknowledge them one by one if you want and most launchers permit to uninstall apps from the app drawer or desktop with a long press or moving the icon to the recycle bin and keep it for a second. The tracking feature can be done with latitude, and all are better implementations than motorola

The vast majority of people don't know what Blur, Sense, or TW really are, but they all know what Lag is. With just a couple of minutes playing with the phone at a Verizon Store, anyone can see that there is a difference between previous phones and the OG Droid, even with stock ROM. The D2 with better keyboard, twice the RAM and 1.5x faster CPU lags in comparison to the OG Droid, and the difference is Blur. So I think that the name issue will not solve anything because the problem can be seen in just a few minutes, even with the Atrix that is fantastic phone with poor software implementation. If the Atrix were stock android It could be immediate success, because it will be twice as fast and most people notice that, even if they don`t know why is faster.

Sense is more of a 3rd party launcher replacement, like Launcher Pro. Install and make Launcher Pro the default launcher, and for the most part, Sense is gone.

Install Launcher Pro over Blur, and most of the Bluriness is still running hogging resources and draining the battery.

i kinda agree but from my experience the og droid being stock was also a big factor. i personally broke my contract at tmo to get the og droid and it being stock was a reason for that. i loved tmo prices and service in my area and was with them for years so i gave the cliq a try and hated how they slurred up android. while in the store comparing my G1(yes i was an early adapter) to the cliq is was totally different to how stock was and after gow 1.5 cupcake and 1.6 donut went rather smoove i had a felling this blurr stuff would be problematic. the only option out there was the droid and 2.0 Eclair and it being a stock seamless transition was the draw. and i was reading on a blog around this time and a woman was doing the same thing i was. i have never modded so im kinda a novice but im certain esp. after reading that blog i wasnt the only person who felt this way about stock and was a part of its success.

"Please do not feed the Jha" ...

The online modding android community knows where moto stands, we do not need o see more PR rhetoric posted on the blogs, and I mean all the blogs ...

Moto wants to begin acting decently, then SHOW it.

No more talk, I throw down the glove of challenge, topss VZ an unlocked device and we'll then talk about praise for moto ... But it isn't happening kiddies ...

This is a smart business decision on Motorola's part.

When MotoBlur first came out, it sucked and the brand had a bad association with the name. Motorola fixed many of the problems with the skin but people still associate it with the crappier versions.

People always complain about MotoBlur but then they let HTC Sense off the hook, which is even less of a stock Android experience. Motorola is suffering more from perception than anything else, which is why it is trying to distance itself from the MotoBlur name.

Let me preface this by saying, yes, I agree that I would prefer they went with a stock interface.

Now, that being said, Blur has made some great leaps forward. "GingerBlur" is much better than what came with my X originally, which is much better than the Fischer-Price version that came on devices like the Cliq. Yet the legacy lives on. Claims of lagging that are greatly (or completely) exaggerated, Blaming it for battery issues when you aren't even loading their widgets (granted they need to fix that ^$%#! & Social and News Widgets which load whether you use them or not, but neither is running your battery down significantly, they just shouldn't do it at all).

Just look at the convulsions people are having here over MotoBlur and you understand why Moto is moving away from giving their customizations a "name." Reality and the level of hatred just don't line up any longer.

I could never understand why anybody would want to use TouchWiz... yet there are. I don't see the benefit of Sense short of a pretty widget and bloating up the App Drawer, yet some of you swear by it. Why is it so hard to accept that not everybody *hates* Blur with blood curdling rage?
