My neice works at a Best Buy store and she says that it does not appear available for preorder in their ordering system. She’s keeping an eye out for me.

I just heard back from Jeff Haydock at Best Buy. Apparently, you have to pre-order in the store. Hopefully the store is aware of it.

htc totally understands how to set their products apart from the others they get that top specs are great but become obsolete almost instantly so they make something that only gets better the longer you use it.

I mean better tablets… if there were others with tablet functionality, and this was a basic Android SDK I would be less concerned with developers not picking up the mantel. But since this is an SDK proprietary to HTC Scribe, and would require the Flyer or other HTC Tablet using the technology to take off in large enough numbers for developers to notice and start developing for it, my perspective is that it becomes one of those Rock/Hard Place scenarios. People (like me) don’t want the tablet unless there are (or you are relatively sure there will be) apps for the device, developers don’t want to develop for the tablet, unless they are sure it is worth their time, and hence… stuck.So, when I say “better options” I mean Android Tablets with Honeycomb.

I don’t like Sense. But that is merely a person preference thing. Other than a few cute widgets, I don’t see Sense bringing anything substantial to the tablet (Don’t get me wrong, this is better than TouchWiz which does, in my not so humble opinion of course, more hard than good). Hence, to me, that is not a selling point.

I tried to pre-order it. There’s no link at Best Buy to do it. Online support guy says it is not available yet. He also said that site is not a Best Buy site.
But he’s probably uninformed.

Assuming from your posting “there are better options out there (or will be soon)” that you mean better tablets with stylus functionality, doesn’t that imply that developers will see value in creating apps that support the stylus?
My understanding is that Sense UI is one of the best overlays to the Android OS.
Better than Touch Wiz and Motoblur.

This would be true, except the Stylus is the only intriguing feature about this tablet. Non-Dual Core, Android 2.3 weighed down by Sense? No thanks. There are better options out there (or will be soon)
