Full Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK is Now Available!

You are no longer stuck with that janky Android 3.0 preview SDK as of about 10 minutes ago. The full Honeycomb SDK and tools are now available for developers to get cracking on. Just in time for Thursday’s Motorola XOOM launch. Oh, and did you hear that the bootloader on the XOOM can be unlocked? Yep, today is officially awesome.

jup I tried it.
but have to say….
on my I3 Intel core (quad). it takes 7 minutes for the system to boot, opening the “appdrawer” after a cycle of 15 minutes (for the system to warm up without doing anything) it takes 20 seconds to load.
every button seems to have a 4 seconds lagg, 3d effects result in FC of com.android.home.shell app.

hope this get’s better within a few weeks

It would be better on an i7, which is the actual quad core CPU from Intel. The i3 is a step above the old Celerons.

Change LCD density to 240 in sdk settings and see what happens when you run honeycomb.

I just called my local best buy and asked about the thunderbolt and the lady said that Verizon pushed back the release date so they don’t know when it will be released. I then asked her what the original release date was and she said the 24th, but not anymore.

aosp is what is actually on the device and this is the base ?

Heck yeah. I have CM7 on mine. Runs nice. Can’t wait for the full AOSP three-oh on my Nc, whenever that comes along

It’s slow because 1) It’s Java and 2) it’s an OS designed to run on a specific and dedicated hardware configuration that’s being emulated in a virtual environment.

In the end, it’s not ideal. I have a pretty new rig with all my stuff running of an SSD, and gingerbread was still pretty tedious to work with sometimes. But that’s why Google gives out developer phones

well you do realize it’s just from the sdk right? for anything good you’re going to have to wait for AOSP to come out. until then you’re not going to get good performance. i never got why people even get all pumped up over an SDK

Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll be able to use this particular lockscreen on anything other than Honeycomb.

Well, it means we might be able to try now. It was impossible with the preview SDK since the emulator was slow to the point of unusable.
