So BBY lists it on their website as $1199.99 as of 2.13.11. What’s up with that? Much different pricing that what is “confirmed” here. Is this a different model?

Wifi is controled on the device? And if it is how long will it take someone to root it and bypass this feature? Do you have to buy the month then or can you take the device home without a 3g plan?

I was really looking forward to this but this is predatory pricing is insane. I will wait for wifi only version or maybe even an alternative HC 3.0 model. I’m thinking of unloading my Motorola stock too.

This is so strange is it not? I mean a tablet is, in my mind, a device that should be cheaper than a fully capable computer. And on top of that, it is running Android as the OS. Android has grown because it is a great OS, but also because it usually is running on hardware at a competitive price. I get that the Xoom is awesome and if you want the best you have to pay for it. But this is not what I was expecting price wise at all. I cant afford to just shell out another $900 bucks just after Christmas! I have kids, a mortgage and all the other bills they want me to pay. This price will greatly hinder the sale of this device. Normal guys/gals like me know what I’m saying. Oh and I see Droid Life has an inside guy at some best buy lol. I can see it, it’s probably some random guy giving them info.

If I were to have any tablet I would question how much I would use the 3G. I mean I have a droid now. I will most likely get the Droid Bionic when it comes out, so I mean as far as mobility with Navigation and such I’d have that covered with my phone pretty much 100% of the time. I would maybe take it to work with me, but we have wifi there, but I wouldn’t mind doing some tablet gaming on my downtime. Other than that i’m usually out and about or at the gym which I use my phone as an mp3 player. So I would probably using the 3G capabilities of this few and far between. Not to mention the Bionic will be 4G and the Xoom 4G update will probably have ANOTHER fee associated with it lol. That’s just me though.

800 plus tax plus the $20 for at least one month, this thing will come out to be around $890. That is ridiculous for a tablet, which pretty much in all cases boils down to be an oversized smart phone. I think it will be an awesome device no doubt but not for close to 900 bucks, when my handheld android can do just about everything the x00m(although not as pretty or as fast) can and is way more portable. Not to mention the Bionic is dropping in a few months with a Tegra 2 and will most likely be $250…no thanks, i’ll pass on the x00m for now.

And I thought the iPad was overpriced when it came out..wow.
