What this shows (and i'm sure many here will flame me for pointing out) is that custom ROMS do not make up anywhere near any significant percentage of user devices.

So when you wonder why your cries for an unlocked bootloader falls on deaf ears for the most part, here is an example why. The vast majority of buyers are not unlocking their devices (and worse "common" people are more likely to be the ones to download something malicious, thus the locked bootloader protects these same simpletons.)

Don't get me wrong, I would prefer then not lock it either, but at the same time understand why they do it. And in the end, this chart shows that we do not have the buying power, or clout of numbers we tend to believe we have.

NAM, you bring a good point, but the people that are reading this chart (which is on Droid-Life) have a good chance of knowing about quadrant, and the people that are developing rom’s, themes, and potentially devices also probably know about quadrant. if we get these results from mainstream users that have know clue what Root is, then im sure we will get a more ‘competition’ view with the people that have root.

Since they wrote one app and it works on every one of those platforms, I would say either A) this is not fragmentation, or B) fragmentation is not an issue and doesn't matter.

There is a Droid 2 Global and a DROID2 GLOBAL on there. I wouldn't put too much stock in this considering people can apparently make their phones say whatever they want.
