  • Douche move to only include 4k60hz AI upscaling on the pro model. luckily I opted for the pro model.

  • Thank you NVIDIA for the amazing product support. Adding the ability to set the menu button to change inputs on my TV is a game changer.

  • Got the Pro as a gift last Christmas. Gotta say at first I couldn’t see spending this much money on something like this, when a laptop plugged in via HDMI does much of the same stuff.
The AI upscaling alone is so good. You don’t even need 4K netflix at this point.

  • Other enhancements:
HBO NOW is now HBO Max, which adds movies and TV shows from DC, Crunchy Roll, Cartoon Network, and other Warner Media content
    New/upgraded apps: Peacock, MasterClass, Redbox
New games: Shadowgun War Games and GeForce NOW games (Hyperscape, Death Stranding, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, Just Cause 4 Reloaded, Two Point Hospital)
    Android security patch June 2020
Adds SMBv3 support for a faster, more secure connection to SHIELD over a local network
Restores surround sound audio while casting
Allows users to grant write access to NAS from installed apps
Adds ability to convert local HDR video content to SDR displays
Adds option to disable volume lowering when “OK Google” is detected on a Google Home device
Restores Bluetooth LDSC support for supported headphones

My Nvidia Shield is probably the best money I’ve ever spent on a gadget. Nvidia is raising the bar on long-term support.

  • Is the only difference between the tube and actual Shield 1GB RAM, more storage and X32 not X64 bit? I have the $199 Shield and thinking of getting the $149 Tube. My mibox is ok with apps and havent noticed not having x64 has been bad compared to the shield. Emulators need it but I dont game just stream.

  • I’m having issues with my 3rd party apps Force closing after the update. Anyone else?

      • Cinema HD..my internet tv apps..Boss media and The big ticket..and Blockbuster on demand for movies and series.

        • I’ll check mine shortly.

With the new Cinema app with ads are you running Blockada? It is working very well for me.

          • I figured mine out. It looks like some or part of the app was on my memory card. So I reformated it and reinstalled those apps and everything worked fine. I was so worried lol.

  • When is this damn thing going to go on sale at all?! I normally don’t buy anything at full price but this might just have to be the one thing I do.

    • Honestly IMO I think it’s so popular (along with the other model years) that it’s unlikely to go on sale other than when it first came out; and that was on the Tube. I’ve yet to see the Pro go on sale.

      • Supply chain is constrained for so many things that I can’t imagine that they’re not having the same problems everyone else is. There is no reason to give away what little product you have if you’re selling it all. Supply < Demand by a large margin right now.

    • As others have said, it’s likely not going on sale anytime soon given demand far outstrips supply. Just get yourself one and don’t worry about the $20 you didn’t save when it goes on sale in 2021.Instead, think of all the content you watched in the meantime.

    • Nvidia must have read your comment, because it has gone on sale. Not a huge one, but $10 off. Was enough for me to pull the trigger and buy.

  • So is this saying i can watch upscale 4K sports on youtube tv for example? Holy shit that’s amazing if true

  • SMBv3 is very exciting. We can finally map directly to the Shield storage to copy movies or music to it for it’s built in Plex server. Previously it only supported SMBv1 which everyone knows is very insecure. Even Windows disables SMBv1 support.

  • Yes now my button can mute and show recent apps. I just hope this update doesnt sneak in the Android TV ads to the menu.

  • “support for 60fps content has been added”…finally! now let’s see how the upscaling works on YouTube TV
