  • kellen are you still using the white nexus 5 or have you moved onto the red one as in your unboxing?!

  • I shouldve asked “there’s another holiday on easter. Who’s celebrating?”.

  • Glad to know even Droid-Life authors acknowledge the ridiculousness and pointlessness of Google Glass and aren’t afraid to express it.

  • Ron goes all Apple, and his disposable income is limited…
    Coincidence?

Just kidding. Everyone’s circumstances are different.

  • I really hope the OnePlus One is a killer phone and get enough inventory so people don’t have to wait for it. After the initial invitation only purchasing thing happens I hope they’ll just open it up for everyone to grab one on the web. I have big hopes for this phone.

  • Glad to see Sun King Brewery getting some love. Weemack is awesome, Fist full of hops is great. Hoping you enjoy Three Floyd’s too. The Brewery is a must for beer fans.

  • If you were forced to use only one phone for 2014, which would it be? This can include unreleased phone.
T: Well, it wouldn’t be the Galaxy S5 or HTC One (M8). The GS5 is a total lag fest…
Would you be willing to elaborate on this please? I have only had devices with stock Android. However, my contract has been up for a while and I am unfamiliar with Touchwiz outside of reading about it’s bad reputation. (Though I don’t know if I can deal with backwards capacitive buttons anyway). Is it really is a lag fest? Should I be patient by waiting for other offerings? Thanks!

    • Even with Kitty Kat, the GS5 lags. It stutters. My main examples are when I’m typing – there is a constant stutter when typing, which sucks. When multitasking, the device feels a bit bogged down. Why this is, I don’t know. Main culprit is probably TouchWiz, though. If I were you, I’d hold off unless you want the M8 or something else.

      • Thank you for elaborating on the original comment. I very much appreciate that you took the time to do so and I think I’m going to take your advice and hold off. 🙂

    • Backwards? The majority of people are right-handed. If your phone is in your right hand, and you are using it one-handed, it makes the most sense to have the back button on the right hand side. This becomes more important as your screen becomes bigger (wouldn’t matter for a phone like the HTC Incredible 4G). Majority of people will use that back button on Android more than the multitasking button.

If you are left-handed, then I understand your comment. People that are right handed and think it should be on the left just never thought it through.

      • maybe it’s just me but I’m right handed and I’ve never thought using a phone in my main hand as a good idea, it makes you able to do more than a thing at once (type, write, -kinda- work, browse, etc), having it on the left hand (ergo left as back button) makes MUCH more sense to me…

PS: maybe it’s because I use swipe, I don’t even touch my phone with my right hand unless I wanna scroll on it (I type moving my left thumb)

    Re: Batman:
K: Zack Snyder is directing the film, so I’m not sure it’s up to Ben. The movie will be a 3-hour long, lens-flare, digitally overblown wannabe-epic-macho-fest. There won’t be much acting. Maybe that’s a good thing. I don’t know.

    Re: Android’s next big feature:
R: I don’t think Android needs another big feature. Android needs increased app parity with iOS, better design requirements (not guidelines) for icons, and continued streamlining of the overall design to make it more unified with the rest of Google’s product design.

    Re: The One+1
E: No. That’s what we all asked about the OUYA when it first came out and look how that ended up. Brand recognition is still a huge part in the game and something that Samsung and HTC have an edge in.

    Re: Google Glass:
R: Absolutely not, but that has more to do with my disposable income than with the viability of the product. I don’t think I would want to use Glass. I think it’s a neat idea and that it will absolutely bring benefits to niche markets and industries, but I don’t think it makes sense as a consumer device.
