The guys over at My Droid World just released a new app that allows you to quickly change out the Motorola “M” boot logo that appears each time you restart your Droid X, Droid 2, Droid Pro or D2 Global (does not work on original Droid). Included in the app you’ll find over 130 images to choose from and they are adding more each day. Some of the categories of images are pictured above to give you an idea of what you have in store, but most importantly, there are Droid Life logos!
To get a DL logo as your bootup:
*DOES NOT WORK ON ORIGINAL DROID. DX, D2, D2 GLOBAL AND DROID PRO ONLY.
*You have to be rooted. (Instructions) (More Instructions)
1. Simply open the app and choose “Online Library.”
2. Then choose “Forum Logos” and you should see 4 of ours sitting right at the top.
3. Tap on the one you want, click “Flash This” and the work is done.
4. Reboot your phone to see it in action

Has the potential to be good but it had a bunch of animations I've already seen. Plus none are actually really good. I mean come on all of us have these sweet, sleek, and sexy phones. We don't want kiddy animations. We professional looking animations that make us want to keep restarting our phones just to see it again. Uninstalled and refunded. Will check back on this once it gets updated with a better selection.

I tried it on my rooted Droid 2 and every time I tried to set the boot logo it would cause an FC. I also tried the one from JRummy16 and that one worked perfectly. Not sure what the difference is between the 2 of them, but I'm sticking with what works.
Is there anyway to take some of these and put them on as the bootloader icon? I look at the CM decal much longer when my phone boots than I do the Motorola logo. Just wondering…cause I have a D1 and would LOVE a Colts decal when my phone loads…
Why not state “must be rooted” in the title of all the posts for apps that only work on rooted phones? I always feel like a kid in a candy store at first, then I get every piece of my being pulverized when I find out my parents have no more $.

im just getting over losing my D1 (VZW replaced w/ D2) i wonder if id be upset if i still had the D1……..yes lol
but sometimes i still feel like a red headed step-child with this damn locked bootloader and like 2 or 3 roms…and just in case ppl dont know, you can manually do it on D1, you just wont have this easy app 🙁

While it’s not ridiculously hard, it is definitely a lot more work than using an app to do it. Then again, the SBF method lets you use ANY image you want, so it’s more robust in that way.

No OG Love what the HELL, C'mon, get this stuff out of here. Seroiusly I'm hurt by this, I guess the time of reckioning is getting near. This app sounds and looks pretty good but it should not be just a bootlooder only how about live wallpaprers or regular wall papers where the others have left off. Like MLB, NFL, NBA Team etc… Now that would be a cool app that you can change not only the bootloader but the wapp paper as well.

sorry its a no go, i backed up my phone, downloaded the app, it opens and runs but when going to flash it gives me a force close, so i fixed permissions in ROM manager and rebooted and tried again same result! I would normaly uninstall and refund but the app designer said it would NOT work with a D1 so its my fault, going to keep it and hope support for the D1 comes soon, this is a great app and one i wish had come out along time ago ( especially for the D1).

I am having a hard time with this realization, but I know my og droid is coming to the end of its life…..I don't know what I will do when that day is upon me but I know I will have to make a choice. A choice that I'm not sure I can make……a replacement for my beloved Droid. Many of you share this same reality with me. Lets take a moment to appreciate our Droids and really let them know we care. Use them my brothers and open that keyboard up! Press those keys and feel the elation of knowing you will never let your Droid be forgotten! DAMN THIS POST!
I love my droid, but I’ve been itching to upgrade it for the past few months…. and I only got it in march! I love it but it annoys the hell out of me sometimes because to get it to run consistently fast and flawless you have to put a lot of time into making it happen. I want to have the speed of a 1GHz+ phone without having to screw around with kernels/launchers/compcache/etc…
I hear ya, but what original droid owners will most likely be upgrading to soon will be phones that are dual core processors and phones that have 4g capabilities. We jumped on the Droid and while their have been many great phones that came out prior to it, they were just different iterations of the OG Droid. Its great for people that own the droid x and incredible now, but it makes no sense to upgrade at this point, but for many og droid owners, we will upgrade during one of the biggest network evolutions since 3g. Its going to be a great year next year for Android. Just wait ; )
