Fitbit Force Review

If CES 2014 was any indication, 2014 is going to be the year of wearable technology. The story of the Fitbit Force extends a little bit earlier than that, but now Fitbit finds itself in the middle of an overly saturated fitness band/wearable technology market. Fitbit might not have the sexy brand of Nike or the respected Android history of Motorola, but the Force is looking to distinguish itself. The question is, with so many other options out there, is the Fitbit Force worth your money? Let’s find out. (more…)

Video: Nexus 7 (2013) Official Sleeve Review, an Accessory Google Got Right

As much as I like the look and feel of most Google Play accessories for Nexus devices, many have been disappointments, especially at their price points. The Nexus 5 Bumper was close to being perfect, but the sticky button situation killed any hope it once had. The Nexus 7 Folio was similarly good in theory, yet couldn’t deliver on fit and finish. So with the current 25% off Nexus accessory sale through Google Play running for a limited time, we were trying to decide if any of the cases should really be considered by you. I think we found the one. Maybe.  (more…)

Quick Look: Official Nexus Wireless Charger for Nexus 5, 7, and 4

Did you pick up the official Nexus Wireless Charger that went on sale through Google Play yesterday? I can imagine that the $49.99 price tag made some of you hesitate on pulling on the trigger, so as always, we picked one (or two) up to give it a quick spin and share our thoughts. For those not familiar, the Nexus Wireless Charger (NWC) is officially supported by the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), and Nexus 4, since each has wireless charging built-in. With that said, I would be surprised if this charger didn’t work with other wireless charging-capable devices like the new DROID line. Unfortunately, we don’t have those in house any longer, so we won’t be able to test.

Quick Look: Official Nexus 5 Bumper and Quick Cover Cases

Yesterday, the official accessories for the Nexus 5 started popping up on Google Play. Both the Bumper case (in a variety of colors) and the Quick Cover became available at $34.99 and $49.99 prices, respectively. By no means is either cheap, but if there is one thing we know about Google-branded accessories – they are made to fit like a glove. And that’s exactly the case here. (more…)

Review: Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch

Galaxy Gear

The Galaxy Gear smartwatch from Samsung is the company’s first attempt to enter a market in which the industry has adopted as the next opportunity for growth. There isn’t anything on the market that is quite like this device when compared to other smartwatches, as it runs a full-color display, has a built-in camera, and supports 70+ third party applications out of the box. It’s a brave attempt at breathing new life into a growing market, but did Samsung hit it out of the park? We are about to find out.

This is our full Galaxy Gear review.  (more…)

Quick Look: Portenzo Nexus 7 Cases – Alano, BookCase, and HardBack

Portenzo Nexus 7 Case

Portenzo cases have been some of our favorites for a couple of years now, because who doesn’t easily fall in love hand-made, high-quality bookcase style cases for tablets such as the Nexus 7? We took a look at their N7 offerings last year, but as you would expect, the company is back with models that fit the newest 2013 tablet from Google. They were kind enough to send over review samples of their Alano (high-end leather case), BookCase (traditional bookcase style), and HardBack (minimal bookcase style) options for us to show off.  (more…)

Video: Quick Look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 Wireless Charging Kit

samsung galaxy s4 wireless charger

The Samsung Galaxy S4 wireless charging kit finally went on sale at the beginning of June for a not-so-cheaply-set price of $90. We got a hold of one today to show off in case any of you had plans on picking one up, but were waiting to hear more details. So, here is a quick look at both the charging cover ($40) and the charging pad ($50).  (more…)

Quick Look: Rearth Fusion Case for the Samsung Galaxy S4

rearth fusion galaxy s4

Thanks to the success of the original Fusion case for the Nexus 4, Rearth has brought its see-through case back once again, though this time for the Samsung Galaxy S4. For those not familiar, the Fusion case is a hybrid design that attaches a TPU bumper to a clear plastic back plate, so that if your device has something interesting to show off on its backside, it can. With the Galaxy S4, it’s not quite the same as with the Crystal Reflection back of the Nexus 4, but say you have a 3rd party battery cover with some color that you’d like to show off, this is a great option for doing so.  (more…)
