Of all of the Google apps reworked to incorporate elements of material design, Calendar may be the slickest. It adopts the design paradigms of Android 5.0 Lollipop – bold colors, hovering widgets, and drop shadows – to great effect. The Galaxy Note 4 was officially unveiled by Samsung at a global press event last week, so as is the case shortly after these get-togethers, the wallpapers from the device are now in the wild.
As you know thanks to our coverage, the Note 4 features a 5.7″ QHD Super AMOLED display, so the wallpapers are quite large, weighing in at 2560×2560. Not only are they large, but Samsung has opted for a few very bright choices, likely wanting to show off the capabilities of their new Super AMOLED panel. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 4 next Wednesday, but if you want a taste of the device now, the folks at SamMobile have you covered. Posted this afternoon in its full QHD resolution (2560×2560) and 17MB self, the stock Note 4 wallpaper is now available for download.
It’s colorful, brings back memories of past Note devices, and is huge. This ‘paper would make a good home screen filler on almost any device you own, including a high-res tablet. (more…)
Android 4.4.3 is hitting Google’s servers, which means everyone is going to be hitting the “check for updates” button on their Nexus devices. To skip the waiting game, you can download the OTA update from below and sideload it yourself using adb. That’s why you have a Nexus device, right?

A new version of Google Play is rolling out like molasses this week as v4.6.16 (staged rollouts, so fun!). The update isn’t major by any means, not like when we first exclusively showed you version 4.0, but does include a bunch of tweaks that will satisfy the geekiest of Android elitists. We’re talking the little things that annoy you as you use the Play store.

If Google decides to push out a bunch of updates to their suite of apps on any given day, Wednesdays are usually a good bet. Sure enough, we are seeing all sorts of apps receive updates today (Hangouts, Cloud Print, Google Search, Maps, Newsstand, and more), most of which don’t have changelogs or haven’t arrived on anyone’s device due to our favorite thing in the industry, staged rollouts for updates. Thankfully, this is the internet, which means that some people are bound to be a part of that initial wave. Some of those delightful people also like to share their treasures.
