If Google decides to push out a bunch of updates to their suite of apps on any given day, Wednesdays are usually a good bet. Sure enough, we are seeing all sorts of apps receive updates today (Hangouts, Cloud Print, Google Search, Maps, Newsstand, and more), most of which don’t have changelogs or haven’t arrived on anyone’s device due to our favorite thing in the industry, staged rollouts for updates. Thankfully, this is the internet, which means that some people are bound to be a part of that initial wave. Some of those delightful people also like to share their treasures.
Below, we’ve started a list of the apps that are being updated, along with download links and changelogs (as we have them). We will try to update this throughout the day. (more…)
It took nearly a month to come to fruition, but you can finally kiss that Gmail “Display images below” message on your Android phone and/or tablet goodbye: the automatic picture loading feature that Google announced in December is finally rolling out to devices through the Play Store. (The impatient among you can download it early, of course.) (more…)
Well, that escalated quickly. Google is rolling out OTA updates for Nexus devices to Android 4.4.2, and we have download links for you.
The only ones we have yet to see are downloads for the Nexus 7 2012, both WiFi and HSPA+ models. Once they become available, we will add them to the list.
Update: We have the other download links, so have at ‘em! (more…)
An update to Hangouts was pushed through Google Play this morning as v2.0.2. It doesn’t bring anything massive like full Google Voice integration, but it does tidy up MMS sending/receiving issues. You’ll also find a toggle for using MMS to send group messages and an option to import other SMS messages that may not be showing in your conversation list. (more…)
Nexus devices including the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and variants of the Nexus 7 were receiving an OTA update last week to build number KOT49E of Kit Kat, Android 4.4.1. The update is now available for Nexus 10 tablet owners, who can either wait for the update to roll out or simply sideload the file using adb. Either way, when you own a Nexus, it’s nice to have options. (more…)
Yesterday, OTA update download links were flying out for Nexus devices to update to Android 4.1.1 (build KOT49E). After only a little wait, the download is now also available for the Nexus 7 WiFi (2013) model, so go get yourself the newly updated Kit Kat. (more…)
Don’t worry, Nexus 7 owners – you are getting the Android 4.4.1 love today as well. This is first build of the newly-released Kit Kat OS available for an Android tablet, and only installable for owners of the Nexus 7 LTE 2013 model. If you have any other model, do not attempt to sideload this file. We have the direct Google download link for you below to bring you to build KOT49E. (more…)
Nexus 7 owners, it’s time to get your Kit Kat on once again. Last week, Google released the OTA zip files for build KRT16O, but this week, a new build is available, KRT16S. You will need to be sure of which build you are running, before you go diving into files included below. Some of you may have already been updated to KRT16O so you’ll need a different file than those who are still on Android 4.3. (more…)
