HTC One Shows Up in Early Video and in New Press Shots Before Unveiling

htc one

Late last night, the HTC One appeared in a 5-minute long video on YouTube, but was quickly pulled before most of the world was able to see it. Thankfully, a couple of forums were able to grab screenshots from it, so that we could see what HTC will unveil today in New York City and London.

The device from the front, looks identical to what we have seen in a number of leaked press shots. The back, is showing itself for the first time with an all silver coating, white line accents, a centered camera, and HTC and Beats logos. We can also see a lock switch up top next to a 3.5mm headphone jack. The microUSB charging port appears to be off-centered on the bottom of the device. Up the sides, we have a mix of white and silver accents.

We also got another press render which shows the backside of the black version of the phone. It looks identical to the white/silver, but is black.

Update 4:  The videos all look to be gone now.

Update 3:  And the full video embedded below. To see the new Sense 5.0 in action, jump to the 2:30 mark. It’s interesting…to say the least.

Update 2:  The full video can be seen at +Rupak Dey’s page.

Update:  The guys at Phandroid just posted up this quick video, which looks like it may be from the pulled YouTube video in the screenshot up top:

What do you guys think? Liking the design?

  • shamu11

    ehhhh I don’t know HTC….

  • Tanz

It look “slightly” like the baby of an iphONE (X) (bad joke here) that had an incestuous relationship with a blackberry that dresses as a windows phone at night…

  • wtsamatta

Blah. I like my DNA. Not compelling enough to get me to buy it.

  • Nick Norman

The phone looks epic. The Sense 5 UI is total departure from the older Senses. I am diggin it the most!

  • Austin Warren

When is HTC going to get it right? They just need to sell the company and move on.

  • Chris

@kellex:disqus this one works, for now:

  • Daniel Clifford

Short answer: No on design. Will hold overall opinion until we see what the battery life and camera tech can do

  • Rohan Barrett

What happen to the buttons.. C’mon HTC .. I’m trying really hard to stay loyal . I just might wait until I see the competition before I commit

  • Destroythanet

    DNA is better looking. Easily.

    • wtsamatta

Agreed. I like my DNA, it’s an ok phone. I liked my S3 much better but poor build quality and a screen that cracked way to easily got me to switch. Hopefully Sammy will improve the build quality on the S4

  • G-Nex 22

    Looks okay, but…
    1) Not a Nexus…
    2) HTC devices = battery drain…
    3) Sense for the Ui

    Pass….

  • Daeshaun Griffiths

And i’m very interested to see what results will come from this camera.

  • Daeshaun Griffiths

I like everything about it. The design is great, minus those strips on the back. I like the front facing speakers. Htc really dared to be different with sense 5, i’ll see what features it carries before i pass judgement. But the software looks very clean.

  • adam king

HTC is flailing. The HTC DNA hasn’t even been out for 6 months and already a new “flagship” phone? Nice job undercutting your own sales and marketing HTC, you must like not making money or gaining market share.

    • Danrarbc

The DNA was a testbed for that screen. It’s basically a One X.

      • adam king

Except they updated the processor and a newer version of Sense; making the DNA already out of date. I understand the whole your tech is outdated once you buy it. But as a consumer, how much faith does a company have in its products if it’s pushing out a new phone basically every quarter?

        • Martin McDonald

No phone is out of date when you can root it and install a customized ROM.

      • wtsamatta

it’s not the same screen that’s on the DNA though. Seems a bit different than the one x also.

  • Captain_Doug

My next phone will have to have on screen keys. I think the hardware looks nice and I’m glad I never buy a phone for the software.

  • Krishaun27
  • Danrarbc

The device itself has grown on me, I like it.

But what the hell is going on with those buttons?

    • Danrarbc

I mean seriously. What. The. Hell.

I so want this to be my device. But those buttons make me angry, and you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

  • BulletTooth_Tony

I like it. I like how it has flat-ish sides… the S3′s curved, polished-rock, sides often make it a little more difficult for me to get a good grip. I dunno… minor aesthetic, adds some functionality for this guy….

    Holy hideous phone Batman!

  • chris125

hopefully the 2300mah battery can give it decent battery life

  • Matthew Merrick
  • http://www.techdroid.in/ Aman Banka

I have Recorded the Video & will Post it soon on TechDroid.in .. then if any one needs the Video can take it.. :)
The clarity is not that good coz recorded from HyperCam3

  • TheDealer

Well the battery is nearly dead, so we know it is an HTC phone.

    -Thunderbolt Owner

  • florious80

The front of this phone actually looks like the back of iphone5……weird

  • Matthew Merrick

Didn’t get to see the videos but from what I’m seeing from these leaks, this phone is amazing specs wrapped in vomit. I can’t even call this an android device.

  • http://www.facebook.com/vanpham.manh Vanpham Manh

    I like it too.http://gascash.co

  • http://twitter.com/SourabhSekhar12 Sourabh Sekhar
  • Breno Carvalho

    Really? It’s look like WP8 with Android! I don’t know if i like that…

  • florious80

I don’t hate or like the design. I think HTC needs a game changing phone to stop their slide, but I think this phone isn’t it. They are spending a lot of effort on Sense and I’m not sure if that’s worth it.

  • http://www.mobilegeeks.de/ Sascha Pallenberg

guys can’t you just think one second about that you are doing here?

  • Jb

Looks Awesome to me. cant wait to get it. My contract runs out next month too

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

WAIT HOLD UP! . . . LOL. I just saw the actual video. Did HTC just go Windows Phone on US? … Talk about a DRASTIC change. But honestly, at this point where I pretty much hate every skin (Looking at you Cheesewiz on my S3)…. I’m willing to try something ballsout different. Looking forward to the presser.

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

It certainly looks like they did…hopefully we can turn that off. Well, there is always 3rd party launchers too.

Interesting idea too with only home and back buttons. That HTC logo does not appear to be a button.

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Long pressing the home button (if it’s capacitive….looking at you S3) for Google Now is fine with me…. Seems like the video guy didn’t know how to bring up the app switcher which is what I was looking forward to. And I really hope HTC did something about their ridiculous app drawer… It’s like the video barely answered any questions lol

      • Chris

Honestly, if I get this, I’m hoping devs will create a Sense 4 or Sense 4+ ROM for it. I love those versions lol

  • http://twitter.com/itzxdjx Jorge Vieira

Looks like a silver metal HTC DNA same tapered edges. Idk I think the Sony z looks sharper. I also didn’t like the DNA until it was in my hand and that 1080p display! So initially no. I’m interested in the camera software. That might save my opinion of sense.

  • kivimaki

    Still has hardware buttons. Pass.

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

I dunno man. I don’t think any of these OEMS are willing to go all soft buttons… I don’t know why. Early rumors even has the S4 with its home button…

      • Matthew Merrick

Motorola and Sony both seem all in with the onscreen keys.

        • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Sony is still trying to figure out how to bread into the US market, device aren’t exactly easy to find. As for Moto…Anything that isn’t created by Google…doesn’t exsist to me

          • BulletTooth_Tony

Yeah I dunno… with how Wonder Bread and Bimbo have the bread market cornered. ;-) …just playing with your typo… to spell it out so I don’t get too much hate mail.

      • kivimaki

I think the hardware buttons are a result of an industrial design teams looking to create a unified design language across a range of devices. Especially so in the case of Samsung’s home button.

It’s understandable but misguided in the same way that manufacturer skins are misguided. They fill in some executive’s “differentiation” check box while detracting from the end-user’s experience.

    • A.J.

I agree. I’ll be holding onto my Galaxy Nexus until a phone with all software buttons comes out. This is why I hope the XPhone pans out. I guess we’ll see.

  • A.J.

I was contemplating going back to HTC after leaving the Thunderbolt for the Galaxy Nexus, but this phone isn’t going to make me switch. Why is everyone that doesn’t make Nexus so stuck on hardware or soft buttons. It is driving me nuts. I know it’s a stupid minor thing, but I don’t think I can go to a phone without software buttons after having the Galaxy Nexus. I certainly hope the XPhone pans out because it looks like the S4 is still going to have that stupid hardware button.

  • sean.yesmunt

I don’t know. The device looks pretty slick. Kind of industrial, but still looks pretty sleek. A little like the iPhone 5. Am I the only one who likes it?

    • btod

I like it too. I’m only slightly dissappointed because they went will a look thats similar to iphone 5 and a launcher similar to windows 8. They’re leaving themselves open for negative press…

  • WCM3
  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

    Kells what do YOU think?

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

Not bad, but am waiting to get my hands on it before I really decide heh. The silver seems a bit much, but it may be better in person.

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Silver does seem kinda Loud. But I like the Design of the hardware overall…. And I guess I won’t have to leave Android now for the windows phone “experience”

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Phandroid also has a video on YouTube…. But it’s just a 1minute clip of the video.

  • Dave

Dunno, I think I like it.

  • bakdroid

Really HTC?!? You think this kind of effort will save you against the GS4 and X-Phone? Goodbye…

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

GS4 will bring the pain… I just admit. But this device is still a Winner. XPhone? Vapor

  • turb0wned

    I like it a lot.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Looks FANTASTIC! CAN’T WAIT for the presser.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

A LEAKED VIDEO! And I was just asking about that on here last night!

  • hot_spare
    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

Any chance you can post it to YouTube so we can embed it?

      • hot_spare

Had to delete the file. Was getting too much attention. Youtube doesn’t allow to upload :(

    • Dave

Interesting. Looks like their launcher is following the Windows Phone vertical scrolling convention. I’m not sure if I’d like that or not…at least it can be replaced with a third party launcher.

  • kiwi

Looks fantastic, are you people blind or something? Jesus. Also it’s confirmed to have the latest snapdragon S600 processor, those specs look amazing overall.

    • Brian

I agree the design looks nice overall. I was skeptical when all we saw was the front, but the back looks fantastic and brings it all together. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed by the new button configuration and I don’t like what I see of Sense 5.

  • JBartcaps

Why am I the only one excited for this? I’ve never owned an HTC phone in my life, but yet this intrigues the hell out of me.

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

I am too man! I left HTC for the Gnex and the S3 but HTC has great hardware! Be excited!

  • Jorge

Sense 4+ already made me weak in the knees, but Sense 5 has me hurling big time.

  • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

Hideous. An abomination…and I’m just talking about Sense.

Don’t even get me started on that ugly hardware. Why not just give us an 8X with Android on it??

    • j

It’s the bastard child of an iPhone5 (hw) and WP7 (sw).
      pathetic imo.

  • trwb

Gross. Love my One X+, but this design and the software looks bad.
