T-Mobile isn’t offered the same price Google is through LG. That’s really what they’re paying as they’re selling them at cost. So you can
t expect T-Mobile to break the bank to match Google. Not happening.

So even if you get this for 50 bucks on T-Mo and sign a new contract. Use it for a few months, pay the ETF and get a new device and it’s still about the same price as buying it off contract.

Did not know that, but that is still a $200 markup that they are just slapping on there for no justified reason other than to be able to make it seem like they are giving you such a great deal if you sign a contract.

Exactly. Nobody could justify $200 when they could buy the phone out of contract for $350. But for $50, I could definitely see T-Mo pulling people in. Clearly it is a test promotion and if it’s successful they’ll keep it or do it again shortly.

The only reason I see them discounting it heavily this way is because people are smart and going pre paid And paying the $400 they could be making on contract to google/LG.

Suggested Retail $549.99, on a phone that sells for $400. And people wonder why phones are so expensive, and think the phone companies have it so bad by having to provide subsidies. If they wouldn’t artificially inflate the prices to begin with there wouldn’t be a problem.
