Simply not true. Once developers figure out how to get the most out of the consoles, games look A LOT better. Just compare Halo 3 to Halo 4, Uncharted to Uncharted 3.

LOL you’re logic is so bad I don’t know what to say. When the “current gen” came out, they were around 5/600, and now that years have gone by and they’re almost end of life, they have dropped to 2/300. The nice thing about buying a new OUYA every year or whatever it happens to be is it keeps innovation going. Games will never look better on 360 than they did when it came out, because it’s not going to get a new video card. Whereas with the OUYA we can keep pushing the graphics because a newer faster chip will be included in the next gen. Just like the iPhone

I meant to say I’m not sure if google just like’s the CM team/Rom Devs since they let Gapps float around*. I assume they don’t mind *too* much since most devices will have GAPPS installed via licensing it and then those ones get roms. Then google makes money off app sales still.

Ah I see. Apparently they’re making their own OUYA store, but I’m sure you will be able to sideload gapps or even a custom rom with gapps on there. Stuff like this is the exact reason why I didn’t buy it (pre-order it) yet.

Google makes its money by charging OEMs a fee to use the services framework. Ouya wants to keep costs down. That’s why the cm team doesn’t preinstall it. Not sure if the terms are for preinstall or install in general and Google likes the cm team/ROM devs.

I thought it was a “Google Certified” device? I can’t imagine a product this huge wouldn’t have access to the play store. If anything you could probably sideload Gapps or at least the play store itself.

Nice! I’m a little wary of streaming 720P or 1080P over WiFi though, even on my Zotac with 802.11n on both the box and the router stuff was still buffering a lot when the zbox was the only device on the network. With a wired connection it works fine though.

What I was getting at was MS/Sony can say “Hey AMD make us this chip and we’ll pay for $50 Million to make it for us”. Ouya doesn’t have that kind of money. I’m assuming by “developers” you mean the software developers? That shouldn’t affect anything considering the games that will be playable on tablets and Phones will play on the Ouya in some shape or form. Console quality games and games that specifically make use of the controller may be hit or miss. I just read something where there are already 160 games build specifically for the Ouya.

This isn’t just a gaming machine, it’s a mini android computer so it has many other uses other than games. Sure, that’s what it’s marketed for but when it won’t keep up with the super high end games in a year or so it will be perfectly fine for streaming 1080p media, browsing the web and many other things.

For $99 it’s a steal. To get a comparable mini (x86-based) PC you’d spend at least $300. I know because before the Ouya was announced I bought a Zotac Zbox with an AMD Fusion e-350 and that’s how much it costs. I only use it to play media via XBMC too.

You support developers by purchasing their games. The games for Ouya will be the same for your smartphones and tablets. You aren’t supporting anyone but the makers of Ouya by purchasing it.
