Maybe my phone, but there’s no way I’ll root my wife’s phone.

You don’t want to be on the receiving end of, “My phone used to work before you messed with it!” o.O

Unfortunately, she has a RAZR MAXX – and I am about to activate her warranty replacement for Verizon borking up her phone (Shouldn’t have taken that OTA Christmas present!)

I was hoping Carbon would work on her phone, but … no dice!

From the video demo it appears that you only have to have your device connected to a computer for the initial setup, after that its not required.

Isn’t the best use scenario for this when you get a new phone that hasn’t been rooted yet (or your friends phone he’s had for a while and wants to root), backup your data, root it and then restore it all with Carbon? After that if you want to use Titanium Backup, Data Sync or something else more power to you. But it seems like this app’s greatest feature is non root backups.

This is one area where iOS works quite well since iCloud, and Google needs to improve. I can restore an iphone – the same or a new one – from an icloud backup, and it restores everything… phone settings, unique ringtones/notifications, apps/games WITH data (except in cases like my bank app – I would imagine it’s a security issue), accounts added (only have to re-enter password), etc. It’s VERY nice.
