You have to go check it out before you just throw it under the bus. It’s actually pretty nice in person. And it’s “mediocre” because screen resolution is outdating itself at a horrendous pace right now. Even if it was 1080 right now, by March someone would come out with a new way to do 1080 that would make it look terrible.

i have the 2gb for $20 plan, so for me, having a 4g tablet just works better for me, and i would rather not have to carry and pay for a hotspot or have to whip out my phone everytime i want to use my tablet.

I would never buy a Verizon tablet, even if it’s a Nexus. Wifi OEM tablets already update slower than a Nexus. A carrier brand OEM tablets would update slower than a Wifi OEM tablets. A Verizon brand OEM tablets update even slower than other OEM tablets!

Tablet is not a phone. If you carry it around, you probably have a bag with you. Just get a personal hotspot and toss it into your bag and tether to a wifi tablet.

If the price of the actual tablet wasn’t much higher than the WiFi version I’d consider it (although I don’t need yet another tablet). There are some benefits to having data on a tablet without having to tether to your phone. I currently have the original GTab10.1 on VZW and don’t regret it.

Not to mention the fact that the on contract price is more than the price of a WiFi only model. It’s absurd. I’d rather grab the WiFi only model and use my phone as a hotspot.
