Question of the Day: What ROM are You Currently Running?

ROM

Years ago, we were able to run this question as a poll, since there were only a few handsets to choose from along with a few ROM developers who had work worth sampling. These days, there are far too many phones and even more developers that this can only be asked in the form of a question that directs you to the comments. Yep, we’re talking about our regularly scheduled “What ROM are you currently running?” post. We’ve had a number of readers ask for it a handful of times over the last couple of weeks, so we figured it was time to oblige.

So as usual, we’ll simply ask, “What ROM are you currently running?” But after you answer that question, make sure you give us device type, why you chose this specific ROM, and then include any other add-on that you have attached to your setup. People want to know what’s hot on the streets these days – give as much detail as you can.

Toro – Team Sourcery’s JB Sourcery V4.1. I really like all the customization
d2vzw – Beanstown106’s Jelly ‘Beans’ Build 8. I like the TW features with the AOSP feel
N7 – Back and forth between stock rooted and dhacker’s/droidth3ory’s Killrom. I like features in killrom but I find that sometimes all I need is stock AOSP in the tab

Eclipse ICS for Droid 4 with Google Now and other fun patches…and loving it

    aokp_toro_PUB_Dec-25-12.zip
From Steve Spear’s Androtransfer folder. I was browsing the Fascinate topic on Rootz and saw his PUB build for the Fascinate described. Figured I’d give it a go on my Fassy and lo': There it was for my Galaxy nexus as well.
    It is Zippy, and 4.2.1.
    That is all.
(Still running GB MIUI 1.29 with Glitch 13.1 kernel on my Fascinate)

Verizon GNex On Android 4.2.1 rooted with JBSourcery Rom on Trinity Kernal.I like how customizable this Rom is everything can be tweaked and changed and the ability to switch kernals by touch is great.Having the inverted Gapps is also very cool everyone that sees it is always amazed !

  • kervation

Verizon GNex running Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly based on 4.2.1 AOSP. Touch recovery is TWRP with Imoseyon’s Leankernel

  • Rodeojones000

GNex: BAKED v6 (and anxiously awaiting the soon to be released v7) with Black Exodus theme. The ROM is based off of AOSP but the developer then cherry-picks all the cool features and add-ons from other ROMs and packages it together with 100% inverted gapps and framework. Flawless and beautiful. Definitely my favorite ROM.

Nexus 10: unlocked and rooted but otherwise stock. Haven’t come across any ROMs for it that screamed must try.

Nexus 7: also unlocked, rooted and stock, but thinking I might give the new AOKP build a try.

SHINY!! It is as smooth and stock like as BB for Toro. Since BB has not updated to 4.2, this became my new daily driver and its perfect!! Another plus is……it has added wireless display (miracast) functionality (**includes working audio binaries and config).

    gnex android 4.2.1 shiny rom!

  • http://twitter.com/madduffy Colin Chen

CM10.1 nightly builds on my primary devices, including a Nexus 7 (Grouper) and Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Toro). My Nook Color (Encore) gets CM10.1 nightly builds but has never really been a speedy device. Pete’s Bugless Beast was my favorite in all previous polls but he seems to have moved on to other interests.

    • http://twitter.com/madduffy Colin Chen

Attention to everyone posting about Bugless Beast: you are still on Android 4.1.2 . 4.2+ has many great new features and CM10.1 nightlies are very stable in my experience.

  • Buckazui

i’m running Mmuzzy 4.2.1 rom on my gnex i don’t have any mods other than the ones he built in to the rom. i love it its been smooth and bug free i sometimes miss the extra tweaks the you find on aokp and liquid rom but i have really grown to like the aosp feel. been running it with no issues since it was released in November.
