Samsung: Jelly Bean Update Coming to International Galaxy S3 in October

If you own the international Samsung Galaxy S3, then you should see an official update to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) in October. Samsung reportedly confirmed the details to CNET UK. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as we have seen multiple leaked builds pop up over the last month. It’s been clear that Samsung is working hard to get their 2012 flagship device to the current build of Android as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately for U.S. variants of the device, we have no time frame for release. Carriers always like to take their sweet time approving updates, so it could be November or December before any of us sees it. And I hate to say this, but Verizon’s version is going to be last. Big Red still hasn’t approved Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Nexus, so there is no way in hell that they are going to jump past other carriers and be the first. You best bet is going to be to root and throw on one of the newly leaked JB ROMs.

I was trying to wait but then I tried out the jb leak which was just okay. Thats when I jumped on AOKP jb. so much better!

Verizon will be dead last and IF they do release the GS3 JB 4.1 before the Galaxy Nexus gets it . . . well there’s another class action suit for false advertising since they clearly stated in the in-store advertisements that the Galaxy Nexus would get the updates first and the fastest or some such BS mumbo jumbo that means nothing from a company who holds up any and every software update and cripples phones all the way back to the first Motorola flip phone with Bluetooth (which I owned)

Jelly bean is a buggy mess. When will Google finally admit that they have no idea what they’re doing with Android?

    Paradigm 2.3 so nice

I waited forever to root, but the folks on here wore me me down and i gave up and did it, then flashed jelly bean and then the new radios that leaked from big red and my nexus went from the worse pos i have even owned, to one hell of a phone

  • Rommer1

    Thank god for custom roms

I just purchased the GNex on Verizon and I am clueless as to why Verizon has not released JB to this Nexus device. There is so much BS going on with Verizon it’s sickening. Money hungry bastards looking to install and ship JB on their next flagship instead of the phone that should have received it already. Yeah we’re testing it alright.

Who cares when VZW sends out their bloated JB OS! JB is available NOW!
If you’re too stupid to root and ROM then you suck at life and should get an iPhone.

“If you’re too stupid to root and ROM”
I’m guessing that you have never wrote the code that roots any phone nor developed any ROM for a phone.

Keep calling yourself a “hacker.” My grandmother can follow a set of instructions.

Some people want updates without needing to root their phone.
If we don’t complain, the update situation will never be solved.

I agree. Even though I can certainly root and ROM if I want. I shouldn’t have to. Updates should come at a reasonable amount of time. I feel bad for the galaxy nexus users because one of the main selling points of the phone is “quick updates to the latest os”.

^ This. Plus I don’t want to lose the warranty. After warranty expires, sure, I will ROOT and ROM, but not yet.

  • Buckoman

I’d say March is an appropriate release date.

I initially said February for VZW. Looks like I’ll be pretty close

  • Anakin Solo

I thought Samsung said VERY SOON last week. 2 months is not VERY SOON.

Verizon: “Why are you telling us this”?

  • Sergio

On a different topic….what’s up with all these ads poping up, bloatware “ala” Verizon? How can I turn it off?

No ads, no site, it’s that simple.
