Flashable Jelly Bean JRO03O Zip Now Available for Galaxy Nexus LTE

As most of our Galaxy Nexus LTE owners know, a test Jelly Bean build was found last night and released this morning for you all to enjoy. If you didn’t feel like factory imaging back to stock Android 4.0.4 (IMM76K), so that you could then update to IMM76Q and then eventually onto JRO03O (Android 4.1), you were much more patient than I. That patience has paid off, as a .zip that should take you onto JRO03O from any ROM has been released by @P3Droid.

Download:  update_jro03o.zip [mirror]

*If you only want the new radios from this Jelly Bean build, you can find them here.

1.  Download the file from above onto your phone’s storage.
2.  Reboot into recovery and make a backup.
3.  You should probably wipe data and cache at this point.
4.  Then “install zip from sdcard” and find the file you just downloaded.
5.  Watch it install, reboot, and enjoy.

If you run into any issues, be sure to let us know in the comments. And again, be sure to make a backup first.

*The build is stock, but has been rooted.

can you install this from 4.0.4 unrooted ? also will I still receive the official OTA for jelly bean when it finally does come out after installing this?

  • Michael LoCastro

It now looks like my software keys are completly gone … need some help please .

  • Can someone help me out? When I try to install from recovery mode, it says the installation was aborted.

The post says the build is stock but rooted however when I installed it I lost root. I regained it by using the galaxy nexus toolkit. Just a heads up though…I did lose the use of my franco kernel and overclocking.

you don’t have to wipe anything, once you install zip from SD card and reboot it serves as an update and you’re fine. i call it installing it dirty. (as long as you were already on 4.1 before going to 4.1.1)

    • I followed the directions.I still can’t find the file.

Stupid question, but after I flashed this and rooted, the default messaging app notifications do not work.I use Handcent for the most part, but I want to try the new expanded notifications. I looked all over XDA to no avail. Any thoughts?

  • Tristan

Well, i downloaded it and it worked it took twice to do it but im running jelly bean and its running real smooth can’t argue about it, i think it’s better than the gs3 no lag whatsoever an on top of the nova launcher launcher it’s. Gorgeous

Used the mirror site and the download was very fast! Incredibly happy with the ROM so far!

  • I am not rooted anymore!! I wanna be rooted but I don’t wanna deleted anything. My plan was to use this till Verizon announced the official update, then I would update to 4.1.x ! I need help seriously !! Please help me ! I don’t know what to do ! Or will I just have to flash the stock jellybean bootloader and I will be all good, so I don’t have to go back to 4.0.4?

Does this fix the mid-call muting issue? See http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24019

Will I be able to update with the official Jelly Bean Rom when it is released from verizon even if I put this rom on my phone?

  • amtraq97

Do i need to be unlocked for this?

  • Is it just me, or did battery life on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus absolutely tank when I went from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. i’m lucky to get maybe 4 hours of battery life before I get warning messages.

    • Micah

Do you happen to be using Swiftkey keyboard? I had the same battery issue when I went from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1, uninstalled Swiftkey and now i’m getting a full day of battery.

  • tk25

Can anyone explain to me the difference between 4.1 and 4.1.1? I’ve tried searching the Internets but couldn’t find an answer. Thanks.
