You are 100% right. HTML is not ready. As a developer we have been forced to try and make HTML5 replacements for Flash content and at best they are clunky and only 30% of what Flash can do. Perhaps in 3 years or so the code will be there but not yet. HTML5 currently is fairly lame.

…..I highly doubt that Adobe would go out of business because of this. They have an array of other programs that dominate IE- Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe PDF etc,…etc

The bigger question is why do these sites serve Flash to mobile devices at all? These same sites like the Daily Show, NASA, ESPN and thousands of others serve non Flash content to all iOS devices and have for years. Why not simply shift to serving non Flash content to Android devices as well?

Why the hell are they quitting Flash before they have a viable substitute, HTML5? HTML5 is no where near being ready, and from what I’ve read the dates have said anywhere from 2014 to 2020 in quite a few articles since 2010 till now. So, wth? One of the top ten reasons to get an android phone was because of flash.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but “no fresh installs” means if you don’t have it before tomorrow, you’re not going to be able to download it from the Play Store…period.

So is their a viable alternative for sites that need flash?

like is their a browser that can run flash sites or some other way?

sometimes I like to watch full episodes like on HGTV and the history channel from my phone.

I don’t use flash often but it is nice to have the option.

I think all of you misunderstood what’s going to happen with flash…it’s not going to disappear from google play…is just that it is not going to have more development…so don’t expect flash 12 or so…probably it even will not get more updates…but it will be there for you to download….and in the extremelly sad event it really vanish from google play, you can be sure it will be accesible on many other sites like XDA-Developers just to name one.

There are sites I visit that use flash, but I can live without it. More often than not I see it used unnecessarily for “fluff” that makes the site load slower and serves no functional purpose. So, instead of R.I.P. I say good riddance.
