There will be some scenerios where this plan may benefit customers but theye few and far between, that being said here is my situation. I have a1400 min plan, unlimited text,two smartphones with unlimited data, also two basic phones for a total of 4 lines. With the current plan I pay approx. $179 with a corporate discount. I want to add another line for my 9 year old,a basic phone, on current plan I would pay 9.99 for that line, on the new plan I would pay $30. Lets say I would get him a smartphone instead,i would pay $40 more per month (9.99+30.00) on both plans, but on my existing plan my son would get his own 2gb a month not share the 2gb I pay $60 for and already share with my wife. So lets get this straight, verizon would charge me $40 more to add a smartphone but give me no more data on the new plan?I’ll stick with my existing plan as long as I can, just another example of corporate greed at it’s finest.

Yeah, but the requesters all figured that sharing the data would DROP their monthly bill for the same service…not INCREASE it!

It’s outrageous to charge twice as much for the same data when you have twice as many people (at least) using the same amount. If anything, the data should be cheaper than on a solo plan.

Thank you a lot for this example! Every time I had seen someone saying how it is cheaper for them, they never gave a clear/detailed example. So I guess it ultimately depends on just how much data you use. I consider myself a moderately heavy user because I know I use more data than most, theres been a few times I’ve downloaded 300MB+ custom ROMS directly to my phone, and even then I rarely seem to get above 2GB.
I need to spend the next few months trying to rely heavily on streaming pandora and Google Music just so I have a good idea of how much I’ll realistically be using with heavy use.

Right key word is family, Verizon is forcing this on all…..So many Verizon should give an option to family share members if they would like to take part. You guys may have listened but you didn’t listen close enough.

But like, if you already have Unlimited Call and Text on 3 phones, this would be great. Especially before it was 299, and with this 220. And I save 80.

exactly. Verizon will never do something to save you money for no reason at all. look at how we’re all fighting for what we have now. if this was TRULY money saving they would let us have what we have now since were “happy spending more.” its just logical.

If it’s a wi-fi only version, you’re not gonna pay extra for it. If it’s a data enabled device, then you’d want to select the appropriate data plan. Currently a 2gb data plan on verizon for a tablet is $30. Lets say you have a 5gb data plan on your smart phone and a tablet, thats currently $80 plus your plan which is we’ll say the 450 minutes at $40, plus texting at a minimum of 10. you’re looking at 80+40+10 so $130. now you can get unlimited minutes for 40, 8gb of data for 90, and the add on for 10. so that’s 150. $10 more but you’re getting an extra gb of data. BUT you could also keep the tablet as a separate line and pay $40 for 4gb….so $10 for you’re getting an extra 2 gb of data….still a win in my book

Whatever morons begged for shared everything should be castrated. If they already have children, them as well. If I want to buy a subsidized phone, it’s going to cost me an extra $110 a month…all because some stupid f*ck cant fathom making whomever he’s “sharing” his cell phone bill pay their fair share.

I agree 100% that the new pricing is FUBAR. This is obviously an excuse to make another money grab and increase profits. Fine, whatever; welcome to capitalism. But the pricing should at least make sense.

Realistically, the price per line should be consistent among all devices and should be relatively low (ideally no more than $10 per device) or perhaps even $0. What does Verizon care if you’re connecting a smartphone to their network versus a tablet? Ultimately, they’re providing data. 2GB provided to a smartphone is the same as 2GB provided to a tablet. Correspondingly, in order for Verizon to achieve profits at an acceptable level, the prices for the data plans would have to increase.

Think of the data plan as a large drink. The drink itself should make up the bulk of the bill to the customer, not the number of straws that go into the drink.

You’re doing it wrong™. According to the information given to us, the tier stops at 30GB of data for $200. Why you’re assuming you can only have 12gb of data cap is beyond me. Again, this is the case of people not knowing all the information and assuming they know everything.

But why pay $10 for the tablet….remember that under the new plan you can share your data AKA tethering….I will be open to tether so just use your phone and save $10 a month.

Ummm .. wha? Yeah, like many have said, more smokescreen tactics. Here is what you are not getting: WE DON’T CARE about talk and text!! And, evidently, neither does verizon. Data is king and you know it. I understand that they cannot do unlimited data, that is giving away the farm. BUT these new data tiers/pricing on TOP of the per access fees is outrageous. Sorry .. but the MAJORITY of customers will pay more (or get a LOT less).
