I think they are after the K Fire, so guessing the first run, or most likely the first couple million will go to US. I am buying 25 for friends down under. They are not thinking they can buy on their own.

this will not end up on Amazon for a long time. trust me, this is a product developed to compete with amazon. they are also probably cutting it very tight on margin to hit that $199-249 price point. Google will not going to want to give up 5% to sell on another site. At least not until it has to.

I love me my vanilla Android — on my PHONE, not a tablet. If this is just a vanilla Android device they’ve lost me. Vanilla Android is only popular with the gadget geeks like us. If Google even hopes to make a dent in the general consumer market that Apple and Amazon dominate with their tablets then they need to skin the hell out of it with a pure Google experience that focuses on simplicity and brings their ecosystem to the front and center. Anything else is gonna fail miserably like the plethora of most other Android tablets.
