Not true as of last week. I just got a GNex off Craigslist upgrading me from my OGDroid. I walked into a certified Verizon store (not a corporate one) and walked out with a gnex 4g phone (with a brand new 4g sim) on my same unlimited data account.

Do you know what a contract is? When your contract is up, then it’s up. You either have the options to renew it, or go somewhere else. Durr. You don’t sign up for Verizon once and keep the service forever. You have to keep renewing the contract. That’s why it’s for 2 years. Then another 2 years. Then another 2 years.

What? Just because your contract is up doesn’t mean you lose service. They won’t change your plan for no reason. You will keep unlimited as long as you do not use an upgrade and get into a new contract. Getting a new phone at full retail is not getting a new contract.

How is that wrong? You may have unlimited data now, like I do, but when your contract is up, it’s gone. You can upgrade your phone now, by buying full retail and keep that unlimited, but your plan isn’t going to last forever. You’re going to either have to renew your contract, or leave Verizon. Either way, unlimited is gone.
They make you think you’re going to keep it, but you’re not. Because like it or not, your contract will eventually run out, then it’s time to upgrade and bam, tiered data.

Lets say Verizon does drop the bomb on us after we pre order & cancel all unlimited plans. can i cancel my order then. This will be my first pre order. I usually walk in and come out with a phone. I’m afraid this thing will sell out by 8am.

Don’t forget the actual materials themselves. The RAZR has that snazzy Kevlar backing and is a very high-quality piece as far as assembly and materials used. Samsung’s plastics are much cheaper and they have greater purchasing power than Moto for buying components. And let’s not forget that TONS of GSIIIs are going to be produced for nearly every carrier globally.

I would not doubt that Samsung may sacrifice some of their margins because they know they will make it up on volume. And the bssic GSIII tech and tooling will lead to many cheaper “mini” and “R” variants, at least in other markets, helping to quickly amortize their R&D expenditures.

each line has it’s own contract and its own early term fee. so it would only be the one line.
