By “Keep up with…” I mean actually communicate with. My personal rule for FB is “If I don’t actually know you or talk to you, I don’t see the point of having you on FB.” I find FB’s messenger to pretty useful for IM’ing since you can’t convince everyone to use some other IM service. It’s pretty convenient.

“Keep up with…”. It’s that critical piece of social media that I just don’t care about/understand. Given the millions that feel otherwise, it has to be proof positive that there’s something wrong with me. I’ve come to terms with it, but it is certainly strange to witness in some cases, the near fanatical devotion to social media activities.

I rarely post anything myself, but I guess I do read family and close friends status updates on Facebook occasionally. I use Friendcaster on my tablet which has a nice set of filters that are easy to apply and dramatically cut down the signal to noise ratio. I can’t remember the last time I actually logged into a “Social Media” web site though.

I have accounts on all of the above because I like to “claim my name”, but I rarely use any of them. I just don’t get Twitter and Instagram is a joke. I would like Google+, but only a few of my techier friends are on there and they rarely post anything either.

NEW SOCIAL NETWORK FOR ANDROID – Picaim

Picaim is a project that aims to become a social network to see and share things that are happening in your city and in the world.
The service is based on sharing geo-located photos of things that are happening in your city.

The great idea is that photos can not be sent by the computer, just for mobile devices, and only at the moment they were captured. This measure helps prevent false information inserted in the social network.

This means, you see what is happening, what the person who took the photo has to say, and where that is happening at the moment what is happening.
You can see content classified by what is happening in your city.

Also you can post anonymously, if you wish to protect their identity to share with the world.

Anyone can see what is happening in your city on our web site, without registration or application for mobile.

The project was launched this week, still has very few users, and we are asking for help to all who possess an android phone, just download the application, test and share with friends in your city.

I wasn’t sure how to vote because I use TweetDeck for both Facebook and Twitter feeds, so I chose other. For the things that just don’t work right for Facebook within TweetDeck, I open the Facebook app or use my computer.
