Monday Poll: Social Media App You Spend the Most Time In?

Social media platforms have essentially taken over the world in the last few years. Almost everyone you know has probably been on Facebook at some point, but the reach of services like Twitter and Google+ seems to be growing by the second as well. They are a way for you to reconnect with long lost friends, get closer to your current group, share your life, find news (or deals or happenings), and more. While some still try their hardest to avoid them, we want to know which of them you use the most. Is it still Facebook? Are you a master of all things Twitter? Or have you shunned the old standards for something new?

  “Keep up with…”. It’s that critical piece of social media that I just don’t care about/understand. Given the millions that feel otherwise, it has to be proof positive that there’s something wrong with me. I’ve come to terms with it, but it is certainly strange to witness in some cases, the near fanatical devotion to social media activities.

    By “Keep up with…” I mean actually communicate with. My personal rule for FB is “If I don’t actually know you or talk to you, I don’t see the point of having you on FB.” I find FB’s messenger to pretty useful for IM’ing since you can’t convince everyone to use some other IM service. It’s pretty convenient.

I try using Google+ more, but I’m on Facebook and Twitter more because there’s more going on there. I do tend to update my G+ with things that are actually meaningful and fill Facebook with hatred for hybrids.

I use twitter instead of an RSS reader, as in I follow news sites for headlines (including android sites). I tweet here and there and I can’t stand Facebook. I love my friends on there but I don’t really care to know what they’ve had for breakfast

As of yesterday I deleted my Facebook account. Got tired of all the privacy/security claims I hear about Facebook and them supporting these government SOPA (etc. bills), figured I better get rid of the data they have on me before they start selling it. I only use G+ at this point, trust Google a lot more.

    I have problems with companies freely giving out my information. The whole concept of G+ is based around sharing information with the people who should know, not everyone you are connected to. I don’t worry about my account getting hacked, advertisements knowing what I post or even spy apps trying to get me to buy stuff on G+. Definitely can’t say the same about Facebook.

G+ has been drawing me in lately.

Once I realized it was not a place to talk to friends but a place to learn something new from other people then it got very interesting very quick. I learn something new everyday on there.

Every day I spend more time on Google+ and less time on Facebook. Just read the Guy Kawasaki book, “What the Plus! Google+ for the Rest of Us” It was a pretty good read, I was hoping it would actually dive deeper, but there’s a section that talks about G+ vs Facebook vs Twitter. 1st he suggested that
Twitter = perspectives (real time info)…Facebook = people (what others are doing)…Google+ = passions (interacting with people that have your same passions) He also made some interesting suggestions about Facebook’s algorithm on how and what content is actually displayed on your timeline. Needless to say, it just furthered my fondness for G+.

Yeah FB to check-in with Fam & Friends, but I would say I spend half as much time in G+ with strangers, news info and following. Share a lot of my cool finds from G+ to FB to share. I think most on FB don’t want to deal with another Social Media, it’s why they have not switched on to included G+ in their repertoire.
