NEW SOCIAL NETWORK FOR ANDROID – Picaim

Picaim is a project that aims to become a social network to see and share things that are happening in your city and in the world.
The service is based on sharing geo-located photos of things that are happening in your city.

The great idea is that photos can not be sent by the computer, just for mobile devices, and only at the moment they were captured. This measure helps prevent false information inserted in the social network.

This means, you see what is happening, what the person who took the photo has to say, and where that is happening at the moment what is happening.
You can see content classified by what is happening in your city.

Also you can post anonymously, if you wish to protect their identity to share with the world.

Anyone can see what is happening in your city on our web site, without registration or application for mobile.

The project was launched this week, still has very few users, and we are asking for help to all who possess an android phone, just download the application, test and share with friends in your city.

Being the only of it’s kind does not mean that there does not exist a price that is too much for someone. Plus everyone has their own ceiling for what they are comfortable spending on any sort of app.

That’s not surprising–I just hope the functionality gets built natively into the next version of Android. It’s in Windows 8 and Google needs to keep up.

Hey man, there’s nothing wrong with my IM client. Costs too much as in I’d try this out for free, but since I’m happy with my existing IM client, I’m not going to pay to try out something I don’t need.

This is also the kind of thing I can’t tell if I like / if it’s annoying in 15 minutes. Just my 2 cents.

that would require framework changes similar to those of Onskreen’s Cornerstone:
http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone/screenshot_03.html and such changes have already been denounced by the Android team for breaking the compatibility guidelines (the amount of space an app runs in should not change while an app is running and said amount of space has to be out of a certain pool of acceptable sizes.

maybe you know of another floating IM client app on Android that is cheaper than $1.49? if you do please let me know. thats the scary thing about it. they can charge us $20 for the app and it still wouldn’t be too much cause its the only app of its kind.

Interesting. I’d rather have it dock on the side rather than be a freely movable window–and make the app you’re using shrink so you’re not covering up part of it. But I didn’t even know this was possible in Android. Impressive.
