You can get around the bootloader pretty easy. As far as that keyboard problem. It happened on the D2, D3, and now the D4. It's an Android hardware keyboard issue that has something to do with the learned words dictionary. Not entirely Moto's fault, but you'd think they'd have a work around. Hopefully since ICS is so different the problem will go away when I get that update. Even if it doesn't, I wouldn't have any other phone. While it really should NOT happen, it's a minor annoyance.

I'm not updating.. and I'll make sure it doesn't. I kinda need OpenVPN access to my home network and this would really screw it up.. not to mention I utilize Wireshark, which requires root access.
This "update" is more of a headache than a help.

This morning I woke up to a pending update for my droid 2 global, so I accepted it.The phone was fine at this point so I left it alone for 20 min then returned to a black screen Bootloader D0.11 err:a5,70,00,00,23 battery ok ok to program, connect usb data cable. After restarting and trying a reset - no change so I headed to a Verizon store - they tried a hard reset and claimed not to know about the update, and suggested that since I was out of warranty I was out of luck, and should try Motorola, Checked the Verizon site (https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/769745) and found I am not the only one.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Good luck, Robby. I should've added that Verizon walked me through a hard reset then gave up. Fortunately I have phone insurance through Wireless Zone. Without that I'd have an out-of-warranty phone killed by a Moto-Verizon update before my upgrade window opens.
