Same.. ICS is absolutely perfect but 2 things i would rom it up for

1) ability to add at least one more button in lock screen (mute/unmute would be nice)
2) power control including lte widget in the noti bar

If google adds these in a future update this OS will be perfect.. ICS is pretty incresible really i have yet to have a force close or restart after 3 weeks of owning a gnex i

Yup.. ppl are dumb blur adds a lot of features that should have been in the vanilla android like ending a call from the noti bar… use a diff launcher skip the widgets and bam… what complaints?

The fact is yes, some people complain about skins saying they want “pure android”, only to flash a HIDEOUS theme. To me, their customizations are horrid and fugly. So i really cant argue with that.

However, i would disagree that CM9 is a skin. CM right out of the box looks no different than a stock google build. Its just a modified build of Android, that adds in super useful and functional features, that i couldnt go without even on a pure android phone.

I agree with your main point though, people shouldnt harp on “pure android” being perfect, only to go flash ROMS and totally change the look. They should be instead be harping on the fact that they have the ability to flash whatever, while motorola guys really cant until Moto starts to be more dev friendly. You wont catch me saying ICS is perfect, because i for one, cant go without features like pull down toggles, built in tethering, adding the search button soft key, the modified quick controls in the browser, and on and on and on.

I use it completely stock, aside from some widgets. No ROM, no 3rd party launcher, no camera app. Actually, I lied, I do use a different gallery app, but for now that is it.

I have it rooted, and have tried some ROMs but so far nothing has really improved the overall look and feel of stock ICS. Blur, TW, and Sense all sure as hell come nowhere close to the pleasurable experience ICS has.

I’m sorry, but this information is somewhat incorrect. True, each manufacturer has their own features that they develop, but since the source code is released for public use, any and all modifications could be rolled into AOSP. That is the reason that open source software is so powerful, as many people and companies work in parallel to improve upon each other’s work.

I mean on ICS. ICS added more lock screen functionality (although not as much as Sense). The ICS camera app is competitive with any skin camera app. Honeycomb and ICS have resizeable widgets. And ICS has screen animations.

There are some things that skins added to Android pre ICS that you could argue made the experience better (although I don’t think the minor functionality additions were worth the performance issues) but ICS these skins are going to have to put up or shut up.

It is also no longer acceptable for these skins to make the OS uglier. Touchwiz on ICS is an abomination, Sense on ICS looks laughable (they need to do something with that bottom bar), and Blur looks almost exactly the same as ICS but with uglier icons.

I started with the original moto droid and watched how they updated android os to their phones for the past 3 years and that’s all they do is downgrade the original to make it work on their phones.

I love motorola hardware but they suck at software, and they always dumb down/ ruin android os to work on their phones.

Hopefully when google fully controls moto they’ll be able to put stock os on the phones without tampering
