If I only knew it was like this I wouldn’t had got the RAZR and would of waited for the Galaxy Nexus (which Im desperately trying to trade for right now). I had a G1, Samsung Vibrant, G2 and now this…I want to flash ROMS goddamnit. The ROMS for the RAZR right now are not my cup of tea. The RAZR has superior specs IMO but means nothing with this locked bootloader.

Loved my Atrix, swapped it for jailbroken iOS (so I could use it on t-mobile, came pre unlocked from a friend), Still have rooted cyan on my G2X and AOSP on my sensation. Motorola makes great phones, a bootstrap helps a lot, but with lack of a stable cm7 rom, I’d rather stay away for now. However, I would buy another in a heartbeat (their customer service and build quality is extremely reliable.)

I dunno, I am quite fond of LG/HTC, and t-mobile doesn’t offer motorola phones anymore it seems. So, people will still buy other brands.

pretty much vanilla? That was the nexus of its time. Verizon let Moto do its thing and Moto let Google save its ass from bankruptcy. Then from that point on Moto got a big ego and ruined everything.

Your mixing Apples and Androids. The issue at hand is locked bootloaders. The end user/developer community can fix these issues that take OEM’s forever to look at. No telling when Motorola will fix an issue or which phone receives the fix first. What do you upgrade first; Bionic, Razr, Droid 3 or Droid 4?
Last summer I got screwed by a Motorola droid x upgrade that caused my phone to reboot when listening to music. People were swapping out their phones left and right on Motorola forums. I had to jump through hoops to downgrade my ROM because of that damn locked bootloader. Screw Moto and anyone else that continues to lock down bootloaders.
